So many words, so little space to say just how BRILLIANT no, let's say fu***ng ('scuse expletive) AWESOME, our Saturday night entertainment was at the Billesley Rock Club.

Popestars - A Tribute to Ghost took it to a higher level and then some!! I am sure I heard someone shout "where's the roof gone".

Guys you deserve all the plaudits.

REBEL REBEL - THE BILLESLEY ROCK CLUB SAT 15TH MARCH 2025
Saturday night at the Billesley Rock Club saw another very popular returning act, Rebel Rebel - UK David Bowie Tribute Show. Another pretty full venue was in for something a little different from the band on this occasion, as on the two-set menu was a performance of the full 1976 David Bowie album STATION TO STATION, widely regarded as one of his most significant and influential works. Of course, the timeless classic tunes that everyone knows and loves were not ignored and made their appearances at various points throughout the evening's show. Hailing from the Nottingham area, Rebel Rebel is a long established outfit and regulars at the BRC, something that will surely continue! Thanks for a great evening guys (and gal), you rocked. Many thanks to all who turned out to support the band, the venue, live music and our awesome hosts Nancy, Bear, Darren and Nidge, you rock too!

THE DAVIDSON TRIO "COUGAR" ALBUM LAUNCH - THE BILLESLEY ROCK CLUB FRI MARCH 14TH 2025.
Friday night at the Billesley Rock Club saw venue favourites The Davidson Trio celebrate the official release of their debut album COUGAR, an eight track offering, which has already and deservedly so, received excellent reviews. Tonight, the trio of excellent musicians, Owen Davidson (bass & lead vox), Ben Bicknell (lead guitars) and Ellis Brown (drums), really cranked it up with a performance as good as I have ever heard them give! This band's reputation and popularity has been growing steadily since it's birth and I believe that the new album will be the springboard to further recognition of this band's credentials. The song-writing is superb and with Owen's trademark vocals ranging from full on down and dirty to easy does it, with feeling, the trio is truly selling blues to the masses, something that tonight's crowd I'm sure would testify to! The band gave us two sets of tunes, which included the whole of the new album, along with covers of songs paying due homage to rock and blues greats Glenn Hughes, Jeff Beck and Joe Bonamassa, to name but three! I don't think that my photos from tonight's show will fully do justice to such a powerhouse performance as we were treated to; you had to be there!! So go and download, stream or better still, buy the CD and please, please catch a live performance when you can. You won't be disappointed! Massive thanks to Owen, Ben and Ellis for a stand out evening of stand out tuneage and much success with the album. As ever, our thanks to all who paid the club a visit tonight to support the Davidson Trio, the venue and live music. You are truly appreciated by our hosts Nancy, Bear, Darren (great sound tonight!) and Nidge, who continue to bring you the best in live sounds!

ALCHEMY RELIVED - BILLESLEY ROCK CLUB FRI 7TH MARCH
Friday night at the Billesley Rock Club saw the welcome return of those fab people who make up Alchemy ReLived, a band dedicated to spreading the awesome music of the Alchemy era of, the sadly no more, London legends Dire Straits. DS founding member, guitarist and vocalist Mark Knopfler had an almost unique finger picking guitar style and our "Mark" tonight proved to be most proficient in his ex*****on of this less than easy way of exploiting six strings. In fact all the band members have impressive musical pedigrees which shine through in their two set list of eighteen Dire Straits classics, all enthusiastically received by our appreciative audience tonight, and saxophonist Julie Kimber really impressed, with the sax licks in YOUR LATEST TRICK standing out especially. Yet again, another top night of great live music at the BRC from a band well worth catching whenever you can. Thanks to our artists for a terrific performance and also to those of you that came out to support them and the venue. Nancy, Bear, Darren and Nigel truly value your custom as they work hard behind the scenes to continue bringing some of the best in live music to you, whatever your taste. Apologies, however for being a little tardy getting this post out there, but fatherly and husbandly tasks took up most of my time yesterday (well that's my excuse anyway!)

EXPLOSIVE LIGHT ORCHESTRA - THE BILLESLEY ROCK CLUB SAT MARCH 1ST 2025.
Saturday night saw the most welcome return Explosive Light Orchestra, one of the UK's leading tributes to Electric Light Orchestra and Jeff Lynne. Five exceptional musicians, fronted by the multi talented Robin Myles, who has, in the past, worked with legendary ELO and Queen producer Mack, brought us a touch of nostalgia, with a bit of a rocky edge, as they paid due homage to Birmingham's own orchestral, prog pop/rock trailblazers (thanks to Jeff, Roy Wood and Bev Bevan!!), blasting as they did through two sets of twenty plus ELO classics to the great delight of a packed Billesley Rock Club. Thanks for yet another explosive night, guys, you rocked!! Mahoosive thanks to all who came out to support the band, the venue and live music, you really are much appreciated! A big shout out to the Billesley bar staff, who somehow managed to keep glassed fully charged, despite being faced with a continuous stream of thirsty patrons. You deserve medals! Nancy, Bear, Daz and Nigel continue to bring the best of live music to the BRC, so check the flyers and website for upcoming events. Thanks to Neil Jay for snapping the band shot at the end of the night; go check his FB page for more images.

ROCKY SHADES' WRATHCHILD EP LAUNCH, THE ST VALENTINES DAY MASCARA MASSACRE WITH SPECIAL GUESTS MERE DEAD MEN - THE BILLESLEY ROCK CLUB FRI 14TH FEB 2025
February 14th is the day for lovers, courtesy of legendary martyr St. Valentine, patron saint of lovers, whose feast day it is. At the Billesley Rock Club, however, the evening of the 14th was for lovers of punk, rock n roll, glam metal and Shokk Rokk Sleaze, as purveyors of such musical genres were to be the venues Friday night entertainment. Wrathchild feat Rocky Shades, a legend too, musically that is, were our headline act, celebrating the launch of the new four track E.P. "Still Here In The Freakshow". Their special guests was a female fronted four piece punk/rock n roll band from Liverpool way, known as Mere Dead Men. A first appearance at the club for MDM, as far as I know, we were treated to the best part of a dozen songs in an energetic forty-five minute set that most definitely warmed up tonight's crowd nicely in readiness for what was about to hit them! Mention Wrathchild to people and almost always the response is "ah, Rocky Shades band!" Despite much behind the scenes wrangling, Rocky is now Wrathchild, something which he takes great pride in telling our patrons. A truly larger than life character, he fronts a band with guys that just go for it and enjoy every second doing so! Their seventeen song set tonight included all four EP tracks, well I guess it would what with it being the launch, and as usual, the inimitable Mr Shades had lots of chat and banter with our awesome crowd in between the tunes. Formed in 1980 and claiming to be the inventors of hair metal in the UK Wrathchild has had several line ups, most of which have had Rocky as lead vocals and I don't see the band going anywhere soon, judging by the plans they have! New recruit, the excellent Jay Pegg on guitars, has slotted in really well and has added a new dimension to the band. It was also good to see Mr Blaze Bayley in the house tonight rocking along to proceedings! What a night and let's hope the P.A. recovers in time for Saturday night's band, Rock Bottom! Thanks to all our entertainers for an absolute belter of a night and, of course to you our patrons, for continuing to support the venue and live music.

An evening with Nat King Cole on Beeb 4. What a masterclass for all aspiring musicians, whether vocalists, instrumentalists performers or songwriters! Not everyones cup of tea, I accept, but for me, great songs, sung in an inimitable style that will be remembered richly and fondly by so many. Top man!

An amazing night of tunes and nostalgia c/o Hey Beatles.

MORETALLICA - THE BILLESLEY ROCK CLUB FRI 7TH FEB 2025
It's been a while since we saw tonight's band, Moretallica - UK Metallica Tribute Band, at the Billesley Rock Club and interest was forecast to be high. That forecast was well founded as the venue was packed well before the 9pm start time with a growing anticipation of what was to come. We were treated to twenty songs of, as the band put it, old sh*t, new sh*t, and everything in between, played as authentically as I guess you could get and paying due homage to L.A.'s metal giants of almost forty five years, Metallica. I wonder if Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield realised back in 1981, just what they were unleashing upon the rock world when they founded the band whose name was so close to being that of a fanzine! Having such a huge crowd in tonight, getting pictures was always going to be a challenge, but myself and fellow tog Neil Jay came through and hopefully did the band the justice their performance deserved! Thanks for a great musical feast lads and we hope you enjoyed yourselves. Once again, our hosts Nancy, Bear, Nidge and Darren came through with the goods, so massive thanks to them and of course to you our patrons for turning out and continuing to support live music and music venues. You really are so much appreciated!

STRAIGHTEN OUT - BILLESLEY ROCK CLUB SAT 1ST FEB 2025
After an absolutely off the scale rockin' night on Friday with Queen Reloaded, the Billesley Rock Club's Saturday musical feast was to be the excellent STRAIGHTEN OUT - Stranglers tribute band. These guys certainly tell it and play it as you would expect the original Guildford rockers to have done! Whilst recognised as a punk band, primarily and having cut their teeth and building a fair old following playing in pubs, The Stranglers (Official) were anything but a one trick pony as their songs dipped into many musical genres, such was the writing talent within the group. Our performers tonight gave us two hours and twenty-seven tunes which truly reflected the incredible catalogue The Stranglers have blessed the music world with, but strangely, I was really taken with the version of WALK ON BY the boys gave us in which the extended instrumental interlude reminded me so much of The Doors' LIGHT MY FIRE. Loved it! It was also so good to hear the classic GOLDEN BROWN included in the set, this time around. These four excellent musicians delivered a set in all it's raw finery and can rightly lay claim to being the world's premier Stranglers tribute band. Top job, guys. Our huge thanks to our performers tonight for putting the PA through it's paces and, as ever, you our patrons for continuing to support live music in all it's forms as without you there wouldn't be a Billesley Rock Club! Our hosts Nancy, Bear, Darren and Nigel have and will continue to bring us great acts, so check out what's coming soon, we'd love top see you again.

Oh.....my.......life !!!

Let's start by saying Billesley Rock Club had a new one well and truly torn last night.

With the Tommy Strix Band superbly setting the stage, a huge 80s explosion followed called King Awesome - The Ultimate 80s Rock Tribute Band. Bass tekkie aside (it happens) these guys know how to strut their stuff big time complete with the 80s "big hair dont care" look.

Featuring a fantastic 80s twenty song set list including Paradise City, Jump and Talk Dirty To Me (😜) this band has it all and so much more. They could be on stage three hours and for me it would not be enough, this was my era!

Do not miss them wherever they appear. I cannot wait for them to rock the Billesley stage again.

THE DAVIDSON TRIO + SPECIAL GUESTS THE FEARLESS SCOUNDRELS - THE BILLESLEY ROCK CLUB FOR 17TH JAN 2025.
This Friday night was one for the blues aficionados amongst us, as the Billesley Rock Club had lined up two bands, both excellent purveyors of that musical genre and previous performers at the venue. Opening for us tonight was the four piece The Fearless Scoundrels from the West Midlands who gave us an hour of well crafted original sounds mixing blues with rock 'n roll and boogie. Excellent musicianship, along with good humour and, of course, a bunch of top tunes, ensured a most entertaining first half to tonight's show for our audience. Returning act, The Davidson Trio, have become a club favourite, led as they are by the inimitable Owen Davidson. Also from the West Midlands, this blues power rock outfit have crafted some killer tunes of their own and along with some classic covers included in tonight's set, we were treated to yet more genuinely top-drawer sounds, played by three musicians at the top of their game. I confidently predict both of tonight's bands will return, but for now we extend our thanks for their awesome Friday night performances. Again, a shout out to our hosts Mandy, I mean Nancy (you had to be there!), Bear, Darren and Nigel for their hard work behind the scenes and to our amazing bar girl Maisie Coleman for her usual sterling work keeping the drinks flowing. To our amazing supported, thanks once again for coming out to support live music and the Billesley Rock Club!
