Rosetta Issue 30 – Call for Papers

Rosetta is a peer-reviewed journal for postgraduate students and early career researchers, based out of the Department of Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Birmingham.

We are now accepting submissions of articles (up to 10,000 words, including footnotes) and book reviews (up to 2,000 words) from postgraduate students and early career researchers from any institution for our next issue of Rosetta. We accept submissions relating to any aspect of the ancient world up to and including late antiquity, including but not limited to:

- Assyriology and Egyptology
- Ancient History and Classics
- Archaeology and Visual and Spatial Technologies
- Classical Reception
- Conservation and Museum Studies
- Heritage Management

In addition, we encourage the submission of short pieces such as museum or conference reports, archaeological summaries, relevant theatre or film reviews, ancient world-themed creative writing, and academic notes.

Book reviews should be of books published within the last two years. If there are books you would like to review but cannot access, please email us and we can try to arrange a copy through the publisher. Your review must be completed in time for the submission deadline.

The deadline for submissions is Friday February 14, 2025. Please note that all article submissions require an abstract (max. 300 words), and all submissions must follow the Rosetta style guide, which can be found at https://rosetta.bham.ac.uk/submission-requirements/.

In addition, we are currently seeking expressions of interest for peer-reviewers and copy editors. If you are interested, please send a brief outline of the subject areas you would be available to review, and whether you are interested in peer-reviewing, copy editing, or both, via email to [email protected].

We are excited to announce the publication of the From the Breast special issue with contributions from the corresponding seminar and workshop series which took place October 2022 - May 2023 at the University of Birmingham.
Contributions reflect the subjects and themes discussed over the course of the project as well as reflections since it was held last year.
