October 25, 1985 - 2025: 40 years of: The Last Command.

Nevermind the Ten Commandments ...this is the last command.

After the meat throwing into the crowd, these sexual perverts had other plans. Following the scandal of fu***ng like a beast on their 1984's self-titled debut-LP, the blood kept on pouring, with more hooks and more shenanigans.

1985's Sunset Strip: the epicenter for sleazy rockers with lewd and crude attitude ...and nothing says lewd and crude more than the fearsome foursome of W.A.S.P.

The LP opens with an immortal classic. First there was "Shout At The Devil", then there's "We're Not Gonna Take It" ...and now make way for the possessed Harley riding "Wild Child". Freedom and rebellious spirits, this hardrock-track energized youths across the Red, White & Blue, wanting more of that B.A.D. mindset. Key selling-point: the stellar vocal delivery remains unmatched. This signature-song is still part of their current setlist.

The rampage goes on with the testies-tester "Ballcrusher" and the metal-roars of the punchy "Jack Action". Now the obligatory powerballad "Cries In The Night" packs some quality somber melodies, while the naughty "S*x Drive" leaves no ass unkicked. Hip riffing and upbeat tempo ...everything's bigger in the Lone Star State. Another rocknroll Grand Slam for the L.A. boys, so drunk the band ended up "Blind In Texas". Another MTV mandatory-track off their hot catalog.

Who dares wins !

Synonymous with rebellious attitude, W.AS.P. rapidly became poster bad-boys for everything wrong with America's disgruntled teens. 80's shock-rock, probably the sole reason the P.M.R.C. actually had a gig.

W.A.S.P. were now a firm part of the second generation: West-Hollywood's hard-rocknroll revolution. After the RIAA-certified Gold reached plateau, the widowmakers would comeback in the ring on 1986's Inside The Electric Circus LP.

October 24, 1995 - 2025: 30 years of: Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness.

More cherub rock.

One of the hottest ticket, after 1993's Platinum powerhouse Siamese Dream CD. Beauty in darkness and culturally significant, THE SMASHING PUMPKINS's colloquial chaos were now key-players to reckon with. Billy Corgan's creative madness would now exponentially burst ...into infinite madness.

A 120 min + of melodies, from the symphonic-rock of "Tonight, Tonight", the bohemian edge of "1979" and the space odyssey of "Cupid De Locke". Also fully present are the metal bursts from "Jellybelly" and "Tales Of A Scorched Earth" ...to the very personal "F**k You (An Ode To One)".

Crushing overdrive-rock of "Bodies", "Zero", to the MTV-dominating giant of "Bullet With Butterfly Wings". Frolicking from one extreme to the other end of the spectrum of epicrock, to the quiet "Take Me Down" and the everlasting passion of "To Forgive".

Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness 2CD is an intricate trek into the alternatives of alternative ...not their Sgt. Pepper, but their White Album for sure. A post-Seattle disarm lesson in both decibels and heart-slicing emotions, RIAA-certified 10x Platinum ...another commercial powerhouse. Double the fun with a double dose of alt-rock, a 28 track exposé into the wide garden of rocknroll, the PUMPKINS are now in a lane of their own.

Millennium-metal at it's finest.

Raising the dead, after 1997's From The Underground And Below CD comeback ...in union we stand, forever in thrashmetal. NYC's hardworking electric rattlesnake OVER KILL provides another forked tongue kiss.

A nuclear explosion, as "Thunderhead" blasts every atom into oblivion. Muscular thrash, upped by "Bleed Me" and the lethal speed of "Can't Kill A Dead Man". More instant death, as "What I'm Missin" and the cryptic "Death Comes Out To Play" ravage the playing-field.

Following a tough late 90s thrashmetal drought, OVER KILL is on a roll ...and more brutal than ever. Now back as a cuatro, more brutal deeds shall keep on grinding that wheel with 2003's Killbox 13 CD.

October 23, 1990 - 2025: 35 years of: Slaughter In The Vatican.

New Orleans's swamp-thing.

After 1986's Get Rude and '87's Slaughter In The Vatican demos, the band landed a deal with up-coming label Roadrunner Records ...and things got really, really ugly. Hate and vile human misbehavior ...please welcome into the mosh-pit: Exhorder.

1990: zenith year for thrashmetal and springboard for deathmetal ...and EXHORDER happened to kick both of their asses. Part NYHC vocals, part Bay-Area riffing and part L.A. leads, all produced with a Floridian death-tone ...this lethal mix is pure adrenaline.

A vulgar display of power.

The brawl is instant as the 9-feet tall "Death In Vain" blows the hinges of the front-door. Downstroke guitar-riffing and matching kick-drums slaps you in the face for a full 5:34sec of fist-flying fun. The aural-massacre continues with an "Homicide", where drummer Chris Nail proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that he is a fu**in' Buffalo stampede.

The razor-sharp "Legions Of Death" and controversial title-track "Slaughter In The Vatican" would make Gary Holt re-question is riff-master status. The mid-paced 60-ton vanitous "Desecrator" is brutal metal and random violence. Gigantic SABBATH-sludge heaviness and how can you not make friends with lines like: "...and I'll make you, eat my s**t !"

N.O.L.A.: four letters that spells FEAR.

Half-thrash, half-death and fully loaded, this V8-primed album caught everyone off-guard. The scene was ready for new extremes, but never for a sucker-punch such as strong as this. EXHORDER would later release 1992's streetmetal powerhouse The Law CD.

October 18, 1985 - 2025: 40 years of: Love.

Here comes the rain.

After 1984's neo-punk Dreamtime LP, the game was on. Fuller soundscapes and wider ideas, the Love LP is the rock-album most rock-bands wish they could accomplish. Singer Ian Astbury and guitar-player Billy Duffy's THE CULT delivers.

Dive head-first into the up-beat of "Nirvana". An instant crowd-mover as the bass-rhythm shoves you around into submission. The electric-guitar cuts like a knife and slashes into the monstrous title-track "Love" ...the shinny diamond not carved by AC/DC.

Take a trip into the sundown on the eerie "Brother Wolf; Sister Moon", while the melodic and heart-warming "Revolution" reeks shades of 60s psychedelia. Back home-safe and rock hard along "The Hollow Man" and rock harder with "The Phoenix", where Mr. Duffy becomes the ringmaster on top of the rocknroll-mountain.

Signature-track #1:
One of England's best rock song, ever, and one of the band's most cherished anthems. Once again, simple is the key and rocknroll is the game. Echoed guitar opens-up, the commanding bass-line divinely delivers and dark rocknroll swallows you alive. The epic "She Sells Sanctuary" is not only the essence of rock, but the back-bone of one of the best British band.

Signature-track #2:
When it "Rain" it pours. The ultimate danceable rock-cut, the simple verse, the repeated chanting chorus, the reverbed guitars and Astbury's memorable melody-line. This infectious vibe is groovy and nerve-damaging. The heavy soaked chorus will haunt you for life: Here comes the rain !

Side-lined in a shape-shifting 1985, these gents didn't follow the easy road behind DEF LEPPARD or WHITESNAKE, they took rocknroll deeper into uncharted territories. Don't get distracted by their glamorous videos and romantic looks. Let the true darkrock vibe take you away, where rebels and gypsies congregate to loud-music all night long.

Harder than poprock and too tame for heavymetal, they would soon fly away from these gothic vibes. THE CULT would now tease the crowd with biker-rock attitude on 1987's Electric LP.

October 18, 2010 - 2025: 15 years of: Opvs Eponymovs.

An upcoming dark-cloud.

It's been way too long since heavymetal was scary. To quote one famous British guitarist: "How much more black could this be ? and the answer is: none, none more black." Mask and makeup, matched with darkened metal / rock, between alive and dead ...rite here rite now: here's the incarnation of GHOST.

Powerful rocknroll bursts as "Con Clavi Con Dio" rides along Lucifer. A foggy vibe supported by lively Eurometal signatures. Another midnight summoning "Satan Prayer" drinks the Holy wine from the glass, as the fast-metal "Elizabeth" provides more RPMs, to this fully awake nightmare.

This Eyes Wide Shut "Ritual" is a one twisted voyage into the macabre, while the dark powermetal attitude of "Stand By Him" made sure the horned one was kept placed center-stage.

Released by England's counterculture Rise Above Records, home of doom and mid-paced heaviness, Sweden's GHOST is an out-of-the-box venture. Church-like choruses and demoniac lyric-set, this band blesses the scene with it's wicked benediction.

The seed is planted and darkness shall shine, more repugnant mutations shall be exhumed with 2013's Infestissumam CD.

October 17, 2000 - 2025: 25 years of: Dead Heart, In A Dead World.

Alive in a dead scene.

A strong follow-up to 1999's Dreaming Neon Black CD. Now stepping into the bigger leagues, with their first Andy Sneap collaboration from behind the glass, America gets stomped by NEVERMORE.

Precise as clockwork, the "Narcosynthesis" infects every veins. A top-draw thrash as the band yells "We Disintegrate", a serious statement of mean superior metal.

Modern powermetal is locked "Inside Four Walls", while the killer cool performance of "The River Dragon Has Come" is a wicked metal-mindf**k. This ride takes an unexpected turn on the title-track for "Dead Heart, In A Dead World", another fine riff-raff of monstrous proportions.

Updated 80s metalmosh with a dark twist and millennium power, NEVERMORE fills the void. Launching the second Operation Mindcrime, the system was now openly under attack. This strong quartet shall strike again with 2003's Enemies Of Reality CD.

Another 80s celebration. After March's We Are The World juggernaut single, another upbeat all-star song and album was crafted. The massive ARTISTS UNITED AGAINST APARTHEID project with it's "Sun City" hit, unites the globe.

Boycott the Sun City. South Africa's posh club, the epitome of Apartheid and division, under scrutiny by poprock artists. Make a stand and fight along the U.N.'s restriction. Reject the resort, but rock the song ...dance to Sun City.

October 16, 1990 - 2025: 35 years of: Recycler.

Time for a quick Check Engine.

It's 1990 and all hardmusic genres are morphing ...yet one band doesn't seem to care. After a decade of L.A. rock and before the Seattle take-over, the sharp dressed man of ZZ TOP provides a well deserved less synths, more boogie reality-check.

Out of a dark alley of "Concrete And Steel", they "Tell It" as it is. Cool loud-rock with a southern-touch. Back to basics, facing these lovely "Penthouse Eyes" is where the majestic ZZ-magic rules.

Louder than Hell, as "Lovething" rears it's ugly head, a skull-crusher only matched by "Decision Or Collision" and the extra overdrive of "Give It Up". At a faster pace, the attitude of "Burger Man" should satisfy all the TV dinner fans out there ...and oh yeah, as always: "My Head's In Mississippi".

Following 1985's Afterburner LP powerhouse, the Recycler RIAA-certified Platinum LP is a friendly reminder that this band forever breathes diesel. Proudly riding at full RPMs in their lane, ZZ TOP's futura shall shine on 1994's Antenna CD.

NYC says f**k you.

Representing the East-Coast, along ANTHRAX, CARNIVORE and Dan Lilker's eventual NUCLEAR ASSAULT ...the Big Apple gets rotten to the core. After Summer 85's Overkill EP, a gang of lubricunts shall warm things up ...welcome the front-row killing kind of Overkill.

Serious metal attacks with full force, as they "Raise The Dead". Vicious from all corners, "There's No Tomorrow" and "Second Son" rips Marshalls apart ...a skullkrushing experience.

American thrash combined with Eurometal vocals, a rapid-fire as "Hammerhead" rolls down the highway, while the title-track for "Feel The Fire" lits the Tri-State area with inextinguishable rage. With subhuman mosh the band's title-track of "Overkill" shall eventually grow with their bloodletting legacy.

OVER KILL works over-time at wrecking everything, building a rock-solid reputation, ironbound to electro-violence. Soon signing with majorlabel Atlantic Records, OVER KILL would be thrown into the arena of thrash with 1987's Taking Over LP ...a wfo worldwide circlepit.

The Oath.

Receive the sacred seal, straight from the Church of blood. The kings of powermetal pours more gasoline into the blaze ...Primal Fear is delivering the black.

The gamma rays blasts as "Demons And Angels" fights in the arena. Pure power is revved on "Rollercoaster" and the everlasting: "The Immortal Ones". Mechanical resonance is reached on "Evil Spell" and the ultra-bite of "Carniwar", while the operatic powerballads of "Seven Seals" and "Diabolus" both rocks to dramatic melodies.

October 13, 1985 - 2025: 40 years of: Evil Invaders.

A full-frontal assault.

It's 1985 and Razor makes the rules. Afire from April's Executioner's Song LP, the game was morphing into Armageddon. The blade is sharpen, the Harley-Davidson is roaring and the Marshall are humming ...Canada's invaders are taking-over.

Rabid and loud, the instrumental of "Nowhere Fast" slice the scene in half. Hammering with precision in turbo-mode, both warnings of "Cross Me Fool" and "Instant Death" are dominant and decisive.

Before the war-dance, the brutal "Thrashdance" moshed them all, while "Speed Merchants" is an accurate description of the material within. In total chaos, the fall of the "Iron Hammer" crushes the feeble competition, as the glorious crew of "Evil Invaders" stumps all of the globe.

Leather bound and diesel driven: this is pure speed-fu***ng-metal.

Rebels and first-class power-punch, RAZOR's impact is imminent ...as both Californian and German scenes were left in awe. A serious thrashmetal feast with serious consequences. RAZOR would deliver more evil deeds done dirty cheap with 1986's Malicious Intent LP.
