Before the influential MC-ing and the movie-star status ...it all started with his radio. Armed with rhyme and poetry, a lonely kid from Long Island loaded with fresh attitude ...James Smith become LL COOL J.

A hot driven party, betcha "You Can't Dance" to this sick rhythm. The serious hammering continues with "Rock The Bells", the lethal "Dangerous" and extra punch of "That's A Lie". Cool as ice, daddy's not so angel "Dear Yvette" gets a reality check, while LL reminds us proudly that "I Can't Live Without My Radio" ...a hard krushing groove.

In a post Sugar Hill era, the business-mindset of Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons's Def Jam Records would spear-head underground urban rapping ...right into college dorm-rooms. Def Jam and L.L. COOL J, two pillars in this new street movement, real public enemies.

Breaking the laws.

It's 1980 and Great Britain provides the official: Heavy-Metal Seal. April 1980's Wheels Of Steel LP rolled all over the United Kingdom. In a demented NWOBHM race, the motorcycle men of SAXON revs up to perfection.

The dark clouds sets-in, the sky roars as "Heavy Metal Thunder" drown England in hardrock. Louder and faster "To Hell And Back Again", to the chainsaw guitars of "Taking Your Chances". Arena-rocking and serious-thinking, as "Dallas 1PM" rides downtown. Historically poignant and raw rocking.

The brutal hammering chest-bursting title-track "Strong Arm Of The Law" is a powerful statement in rock-domination, while the sheer rippings of "Sixth Form Girls" and the fast Mach IV "20,000 Feet" separates the boys from the men.

November 1985 - 2025: 40 years of: Maximum Destruction.

Hell bent for leather.

During the speedmetal arms-race, one American band kept the NWOBHM alive. Afire, leathered and deafening, here's the final nuclear blast of DESTRUCTOR.

The building from chaos to speed is imminent ...from under the ruble, we find "Maximum Destruction". A ripped to shreds experience, as "Take Command" and the intravenous-shot of "Overdose" electrifies. Behind the "Iron Curtain", the full face-washed of "Destructor" is a rabid metal-loaded cacophony. This band is pure Flying Vs and "Hot Wet Leather" !

Far away from thrashmetal and farther away from West-Hollywood glamour, DESTRUCTOR attacks the US-Front with pure thrashy powermetal. Lovely World War Three, featuring the union of:

November 9, 1985 - 2025: 40 years of: The Wrestling Album.

The 80's zenith.

From sci-fi to muscle-cars to action to muscle-men ...the mid-decade ruled. And now, pop-culture gets shocked to a different vibe ...rocking to professional-wrestling. Out of the underground into the spotlights of Madison Square Garden, the World Wrestling Federation corners another arm of show-business.

Fully narrated by Vince McMahon, Mean Gene Okerlund and the always colorful eternal badass Jesse The Body Ventura, wrestlers sing along to poprock and entrance theme-songs.

The "Land Of A Thousand Dances ?!!?" Americana classic gets royal rumbled, while the street soul "Grab Them Cakes" might be Junkyard Dog's slickest move. The humorously addictive "Tutti Frutti" shakes, rattles & rolls ...with an overdriven Okerlund.

Making a notable appearance is the penned by American heritage Rick Derringer, who also provided electric-guitars, all-time classic in "Real American". Originally intended for the U.S. Express tag-team, the track would be switched over to Hulk Hogan and forever cement the 80s Red, White & Blue pride.

Tagging along some of the hippest stars, namely Cindy Lauper, it's 1985 a new wild era is here. Mere months after the inaugural WrestleMania ...HulkaMania is running wild on us. A second rocknroll elimination shall be issued in 1987's The Wrestling Album II: Piledriver LP.

November 8, 1980 - 2025: 45 years of: Ace Of Spades.

An ugly rocknroll storm.

Crafters of speed and users of, these MOTÖR-f**kers are the new-school. Late 70s heavyrock and punk explosions kept England at the pole position of extremes ...and on the Seventh Day, the Brits created 1980: Year Zero for true Heavy-Metal.

In between the elder SABBATH, the leathered PRIEST, the dangerous MAIDEN, the suave SNAKE and the motorcycle men of SAXON. This MOTÖR-madness escalated with an overkill, then a bomber-led assault ...and now the terrifying trio destroys everything, every-f**kin-thing.

There's loud ...and then there's MOTÖR-loud !

The dirt lifts up instantly as the grimmy bass-lick wipes the floor and opens-up the riot. This title-track alone is heavy enough to initiate a geomagnetic-reversal, none shall survive this brutal assault. The drums explodes into a H-bomb while the guitars sand-blasts it's way a mile around and Lemmy arrives and delivers adrenalized-rocknroll. Blunt, vile and deadly addictive, they draw the first card out of the pack: the "Ace Of Spades". The one-stop shop for teenage angst and rock-rebellion, packaged into a 2:48sec slab of some of the finest rawness available. This is just track #1, dya think you'll make it thru homeboy ?

Not a single second to rest, as the A-riff of "Love Me Like A Reptile" bursts in and annihilates anyone / anything left standing. While the term heavymetal wasn't yet widely used, the sound was forever immortalized on killer jabs like "Shoot You In The Back", the speedster "Fire, Fire" and the C-4 explosive of "Bite The Bullet". From trio to a full family-affair, hear the homage for the MOTÖR-staff on "(We Are) The Road Crew".

The heaviness reaches Biblical proportions on the pounding "The Chase Is Better Than The Catch", a vicious 360° attack, while the LP's closer pins you down into nothingness with a massive deafening stroke of "The Hammer".

Ace Of Spades LP, the iconic "f**k you" in hard-rocknroll's illustrious history.

The accompanying live meltdown 1981's No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith LP is an hostile exhibition in a hostile environment. The Odeon turned into a warzone of bikers, punks, leather, jeans, spikes, switchblades and gutter-attitude. This alpha-male mojo has followed the band until their very end in 2015.

45 f**king years of grime, dirt and cranium splitting hardcore-rocknroll. It's not only about the music, it's about a way of life, it's an attitude. A MOTÖR-outlook on life and one's destiny, fueled by the high-octane rock included within. Now on a roll, the orgasmatron never stops. November 6, 1990 - 2025: 35 years of: Crazy World.

Out of the zoo ...into the big city nights.

The great German rock-machine roars again. The City Of Angels hit hard in the 80s, but our dear quintet weren't done yet. After all, they did initiate this very party way back in 1972, at a time when Slash, Nikki Sixx and a certain Edward were still learning the rudiment of their respective instruments.

From Hanover to your Walkman, from their underground heavyrock beginnings to the arenas of the world ...the Scorpions never had a blackout.

Look but you can't touch, the temptation is hard on "Tease Me Please Me". A sneaky lick and matching power-rock chorus. Rejoice and indulge in Euro-arenarock with the title-track for "Crazy World", a loud statement were the unit still manage to bring new tricks out of their sleeves.

Ladies don't lie, prove me wrong girl as "Don't Believe Her" rolls down and sets the mood for some "Lust For Love". It's been done a gazillion time, just like s*x, drugs and rocknroll ...it still works ...as it all goes along with "Money And Fame".

And now ...time to hold hands and whistle along: "Tear down this wall".

In one of humanity's most defining historic event, reuniting the East with the West, the bad-boys toned down and let the magic do the talking. In a sea of MTV-friendly hair-rock ballads, this cut would forever encompass the powerballad-term. If the mainstream still hadn't listened to "Patience", "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" or "Home Sweet Home" ...they now couldn't look away. The tornading "Wind Of Change" took care of business and to some extent, spearheaded a part of the now classicrock radio-format. A beautiful piece, supported by ringing slightly reverbed overdriven-guitars, this tune is on both terms: a cry for help and a cry for hope.

The SCORPIONS are still alive and world wide live. Crazy World CD is one of the last RIAA-certified 2x Platinum pillars for true hardrock, before the Seattle immersion ...so hold on for awhile, the 80s-vibe ain't over yet.

All of this delinquent decadence shall come back with Face The Heat CD ...in a very very very different 1993's rocknroll landscape.

Thrashmetal perfection.

It's 1990 and America was on top: land of the Free, home of the Thrash ...and now Deutschland fights back with an astonishing masterpiece. In line with 1989's Extreme Aggression LP, this second trench assault would position Kreator closer to the Big Four.

Fully awake, the temperature rises ..."When The Sun Burns Red". A turning-point in a new dawn, deep into the "Terror Zone", where a forgotten "World Beyond" of architectural speedmetal dominates. First-class thrash with a pleasure to kill mindset.

Ruled by programmed social "Mental Slavery", the prominent metal provided, sat this scene into a "Coma Of Souls". The single-cut for "People Of The Lie" rapidly rose to the height of the band's live-setlist.

Jump inside the mind of Germany's titans. Coma Of Souls CD is the epitome of 1990's Eurothrash, the final lap. Brutally melodic and melodically brutal, a balance between endless pain and suave virtuoso-leads. Standing tall against the big guns, with a clinched fist ...KREATOR performed a perfect riot.

As 1991 and 1992 rolled-out, it would also deface heavymetal as traditional thrash would be back at the drawing-board. In response, the band would present Autumn '92's Renewal CD.

November 1995 - 2025: 30 years of: In Times Before The Light.

Beyond the seven churches.

Unholy duo hatched in 1993 and eventually crafted the In Times Before The Light demo-cassette. Recorded in late Autumn '95, the official release would later see the light of night on silver-disc in 1997. Before the electronica, from the darkness's breeding-ground ...Norway hosts a COVENANT.

The midnight mist of "Towards The Crown Of Nights" gathers souls to the gallows. A blast of "Dragonstorms" and the lurky "From The Storm Of Shadows" makes the sky bleeds black. Fully keyboard-supported, the morbid "Visions Of A Lost Kingdom" and the cold symphony title-track for "In Times Before The Light" should be a cathedral-only performed track.

A freezing moon experience.
A lexicon is born.
This unit is bound to be part of the Black-Metal's Third Wave.

The updated THE KOVENANT shall release a remixed 2002 version of In Times Before The Light CD ...with a totally new industrial outlook. But before the techno make-over, Nagash shall join DIMMU BORGIR, COVENANT shall sign with Nuclear Blast Records and set a new epic trend with 1998's space-blackmetal Nexus Polaris CD.

November 4, 1985 - 2025: 40 years of: Seven Churches.

Satanic-Metal burns America.

1985, the year for hate, aggression and raw power AKA speed-f**kin-metal. And this time, we've got a gang that makes METALLICA and EXODUS sound like DURAN-f**kin-DURAN. From the deranged family-tree of the almighty VENOM, going underground with CELTIC FROST and then no mercy of SLAYER ...but this time around: everything dies. Thrash-Metal becomes fully Possessed !

Open up The Gates Of Hell with the actual soundtrack from the 1973 unholy-cult horror The Exorcist. From movie to music, from menacing to maniacal, from massacra to morbid tales ...haunting the chapel in every Churches as it bluntly bursts out with "The Exorcist" a true bloodlust metal-cut.

The grim-level goes into overdrive on the speedmetal slaughter "Evil Warriors", where the immortal call "6 - 6 - 6" is yelled out by singer / bassist / hellchild Jeff Becerra. The roots of what would soon become a new metal-genre.

Faster and hotter ...like a wild-fire "Burning In Hell" and "Satan's Curse" leaves not much to the imagination. Raging drums and painstaking faster fret-work draws blood on impact. More darkness and vileness is execrated on "Holy Hell" and the foreshadowing closing track "Death Metal".

Total violence.
Total desecration.
Total Anti-Christ hate.
The San Francisco Bay-Area was the thrashmetal hotbed in the mid 80s. After the initial shock of EXODUS and METALLICA, the Second Wave destroyed everything in the pit, the culprits: TESTAMENT, HEATHEN, DEATH ANGEL, VIO-LENCE, FORBIDDEN and POSSESSED.

Ready for World War Three ?

A view to a kill: that dark evil cloud overheads on all non-believers, as these soldiers rides the lightning and raises the bar with a firm metal-command. In the history books, there is none more black as: Welcome To Hell, Hell Awaits and Seven Churches LPs. While the arms-race was in full motion, this volatile exhibition sat metal on a new path of extremes. A fine distinctive line between thrashmetal and speedmetal was now making room for what would become the sick musical genre known as: Death-Metal.

Now the debate: is Seven Churches LP a death-metal release ?

No. Extremely influent, both musically and lyrically, boundary-pushing and trailblazing. But even though the brutally is unmatched, it does miss the slower and mid-paced moody parts, guitar-downtuning and the key-signature deep guttural-vocals of the genre. So against these facts, yet so close and deadly: the Seven Churches LP is not a death-metal release.

POSSESSED burned everything above sea-level, not only with their high BPM-factor, but by the evil touch that makes these bastards unique. The ravage shall continue on 1986's Beyond The Gates LP.

October 31, 2000 - 2025: 25 years of: Made Me Do It.

A glorious meeting at the gates.

At deathmetal's cross-road, this Gothenburg band shall not be melodic. Following their killer 1998 self-titled debut-CD ...The Haunted now gives commands.

Modern violence bleeds out with "Dark Intentions" and "Bury Your Dead". Upbeat and front-line, the new mosh is imminent. From this "Hollow Ground" and endless fires as "The World Burns". Surrounded by "Leech", the rotted "Human Debris" soils the scene, with in your face thrashy death-core menacing mosh. A full hardcore brawl ...not from the Bronx.

During this wicked new millennium, the era was serviced by explosive new shades of extreme metal. A fine mix of non-traditional deathmetal with a street-attitude ...hand delivered by THE HAUNTED.

The game would catch-up with aggressive Euro deathrash, yet the band would keep their lead intact, as proven with 2003's One Kill Wonder CD.

October 31, 2000 - 2025: 25 years of: And Then You'll Beg.

Another lesson in violence.

Following Cryptopsy's rebuilt with 1998's Whisper Supremacy CD, their new hardcore vibe would finally bloom, during metal's new millennium. More vile blasphemies are spewed ...and then you'll beg.

Rolling at 666 km/h, this new extreme rushes by "...And Then It Passes". A blunt attack, as "We Bleed" and the hyperactive "Voice Of Unreason" hits every nerve alive. More mid-toned guitars strikes as "Shroud" and "Equivalent Equilibrium" destabilizes the scene with it's unconventional death. Another exhumed surprise, as the 1993 cut "Back To The Worms" gets a modern facelift.

A new wave of fresh deathmetal, were traditions were overdriven by street-attitude ...CRYPTOPSY chewed us alive. This era would also close the lid on the band's stability, behind the mike. Leaving his post behind, DiSalvo's position would be filled on 2003's None So Live CD ...featuring new frontmen, local buddy: Martin Lacroix.

Back in writing-mode, CRYPTOPSY would seek familiar orgiastic disembowelments and issue 2005's Once Was Not CD ...featuring the returned preacher: Lord Worm.
