📚 StoryTown Day 3 - The Festival 🎬

📽 This Saturday, we were at Birmingham Hippodrome mingling with aspiring writers and current authors looking to turn their books into a film or TV series!

🎤 Our Founder Ameesha Green was at the StoryTown panel answering questions as a nonfiction and self-publishing expert.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Natalie Yesufu Adele-Edwards, creator of the concept, as well as all of you who came to ask thought-provoking questions about books and the publishing industry!

This was our first event of 2024 and we have a lot more to come. 🔜

Another great win for Bournville Girls FC U14s who we are proud to sponsor! ⚽️🍀

Bournville FC girls under 14s were away to Next Generation Spirit this morning.

A fixture where Next Gen moved over from the Staffordshire league as division 1 winners, we knew we were in for an entertaining game.

We were shell shocked by Next Gens hunger to win the ball and to force errors.

2-0 after 5 minutes!
..would it be a heavy defeat or would we turn it round?...the later is what happened...

We got back to our pressing game and 3 minutes later Ava grabbed us a goal with a neat finish 2-1.

As the game settled down, we grew in confidence but needed the half time to reset.

A halftime team talk of mistakes happen and is how we learn was a message. To reset, keep our shape, work together and the chances will come inspired the girls to a great 2nd half.

Some neat short passes to work the ball upfield was sent to Aisha who cut inside from the right to pass to Ava on the edge of the box. Who dribbled past 2 players to make it 2-2 after 5 minutes set the tone.

Some outstanding defending by our centre backs and fullbacks today firmly shut the door to allow us to express ourselves.

We got a freekick from the edge of the box, 15 minutes in. Which was superbly placed into the top right of the goal by Isla to give us the lead. 3-2.

We now played with freedom. As Next Gen pressed, we countered. With short passes from back to front, about 8 in total ended up with Aisha to calmly finish into the keepers bottom left to make it 4-2. Which is where it finished.

🌟 star player this week goes to Izzy who showed a real creative side to her play today. Spotting runs, breaking the lines and pressing very well.

Summer’s here and we thought it about time to start our summer nonfiction reading list! Throughout the summer months we’ll be showing you our top nonfiction reads guaranteed to make you laugh, cry and hopefully learn a bit more about yourself along the way.

We’re starting with a ‘light’ one today with ‘Solutions and Other Problems’ by award-winning writer and artist Allie Brosh. Part memoir, part essay, and part comic, this book is an incredible mish-mash of hilarious and heartbreaking. ‘Solutions and Other Problems’ is an amazing lesson on learning how to live, how to grow and most importantly, how to move on. (The dog pictures in it are also spectacular).
