Habit stacks for busy days✨

If you’re new here habit stacking is a firm favourite hack of mine - if you’re not so new here, you already know!

Habit stacking is a way of life. Not only are you forming good habits but you’re utilising your time better. If you’ve not read Atomic Habits by by James Clear I highly recommend, it will really help you reshape how you form habits and keep up good habits.

Here are some habit stacking hacks that I use frequently so that I keep up with good habits, self care and also feel productive.

- Make your bed + repeat daily affirmations
- Drink water + listen to guided meditation
- 20 minute walk + call a friend or relative
- Driving in the car + listen to a podcast
- Cook a healthy meal + prep double for later
- Watch favourite tv show + face mask
- Legs up the wall + read a few chapters of book

Are you drinking enough water?✨

Hydration is SO important. Many of us underestimate the power of drinking enough water on a daily basis. To keep your body optimally functioning you should be aiming for a minimum of 2 litres a day, or 8 glasses a day. This can obviously vary on gender, build, being an athlete or gym goer or even if you sweat a lot; but as a general rule of thumb we should be aiming for nothing less than 2 litres a day.

Being hydrated has a direct effect on your mood, your skin, your sleep, your overall health and wellbeing so making sure we drink enough water on a daily basis is imperative.

We’ve spoken about how to recognise burnout and stress symptoms and how to bounce back from it, now let’s talk about how you can aid your recovery through nutrition.

These 5 nutritional tips will help your body lower and better manage it’s cortisol levels:
- Get enough vitamin C - vitamin C can help reduce the amount of cortisol that gets released by your adrenal glands.
- Combine magnesium and B6 rich foods - Magnesium and B6 work together hand in hand, as the B6 allows for better absorption of the Magnesium in your body. Together they help regulate your nervous system from fight or flight mode.
- Getting enough protein helps your body better respond to stress.
- Omega 3 helps with reducing the amount of cortisol your body produces.

Blueberry Oat Bars✨

My husband and I found this recipe online and tweaked it to suit our tastes and wow these oat bar treats are so yummy.

They’re really easy to make, no nasties, vegan and are the perfect sweet treat. Plus you don’t even need to bake them - winning!

Ingredients:
- 1 cup oat flour (or you can use almond, we used almond)
- 1 cup gluten free, wheat free oats (or organic oats)
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/3 maple syrup (or you can use honey)
- 1 cup blueberries
- dark chocolate (70%+)
- 1/3 smooth organic peanut butter (or you can use almond butter)

Recipe:
- Grease or line a loaf tin/glass tray
- Over medium heat add the blueberries and water to a pan and bring to the boil, once boiling turn the heat down and allow to simmer. Stir regularly and slightly mash the blueberries to make a paste
- Throw all the remaining ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix together. Make sure it all sticks together, if it is too wet add more flour and if it is too dry add more peanut butter
- Pour 3/4 of the mixture into the loaf tin/glass tray and smooth out, make sure you press it together
- Pour the blueberries on top and spread evenly
- Pour over the rest of the mixture and place in the fridge until set
- Slice up into finger bars and enjoy!

8 ways to bounce back from burnout✨

I can’t stress enough that resting is not unproductive, it does not make you lazy & no you should not feel guilty for doing it either. Your body needs rest. Your mind needs rest. You need to allow yourself rest so that you can be the best version of yourself.

Here are 8 ways to rest and recover from burnout:
- Get adequate sleep. Aim for 8 hours a night.
- Unplug/disconnect. Take a social media break. No phone 1 hour before bed/after waking up.
- Spend time alone. Meditate, read, journal, go for a walk in nature.
- Move your body. Go for a walk, go to the gym, try yoga or pilates.
- Connect with someone you love. This can be friends or family, where you feel safe to be vulnerable.
- Set boundaries. With yourself, with work, with others. Say no to things that do not align with you - without feeling guilty!
- Prioritise fun, do things that bring you joy whatever that may be.
- Drink your water and reach for wholefoods. Try new recipes and experiment with foods. What you nourish your body with is so important.

8 ways your body is telling you that you are heading towards burnout✨

In the hustle culture that we are accustomed to living in, it’s so easy to overlook the warning signs that burnout is lurking. Here are some key signs and symptoms to watch out for:

- Increased anxiety and feeling ‘jumpy’
- Feeling irritable, wanting time alone, reduced empathy
- Finding it hard to concentrate or having ‘brain fog’
- Feeling emotionally exhausted: easily overwhelmed or overstimulated
- Achey and tense body: stiffness in the neck, shoulders area, headaches, tense jaw, back pain
- Sensory overload: bright lights, sounds, smells, temperature changes affect you
- Disturbed sleep: finding it hard to fall asleep and/or stay asleep
- Loss of enjoyment in activities, food social interactions

If you resonate with any of these symptoms it could be your body warning you that you are heading for burnout. Don’t ignore or brush it off as being ‘busy’ or ‘tired’, take charge of your wellbeing so that you don’t hit that burnout wall.

Simple swaps for a healthier you & home✨

Before Christmas I always like to have a deep clean and clear out so I’m not taking anything I don’t want or use into the new year. Start your now and 2025 off the best way for your and your health & wellbeing.

Making these swaps doesn’t need to be complicated or happen all at once, as I know it can seem daunting. If you slowly make changes each day/week it won’t feel like such a big transition.

Start with 1 small change such as daily movement and then go from there, adding in a new change every day/week - whatever you can manage.

You will notice a change in how you feel and your body will thank you for it in the long run✨
