Jennett's Park Defibrillator Appeal

Jennett's Park Defibrillator Appeal "Stand back .... keep clear .... shocking"

An appeal set up to raise funds for a defibrillator for Stand back …. keep clear …. shocking …..

It’s a sentence that many of you may have heard in a television drama or perhaps a film at the cinema, but it’s a phrase that many of us will hopefully never have to hear for real. A defibrillator (AED) is a device that can help save a life should someone stop breathing or is breathing erratically, such as a heart attack or cardiac arrest. After a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defib

rillation reduces someone’s chance of survival by 10% - every second counts. So the quicker a defibrillator is used, the greater the chance that the person will survive - that could be a family member, friend, colleague … or even YOU! Our ambulance service and hospitals are struggling with the number of patients and resources are being stretched to breaking point. A public access defibrillator (PAD) may help to save a life in our local community. This appeal is to raise funds for a public access defibrillator to be sited outside the Community Centre at Jennett's Park. We need to raise a minimum of £2500 to cover purchase, maintenance and installation costs. Any money raised over the initial target will be spent on providing AED/defib courses for interested residents and hopefully another AED to be located in the Wykery Copse area. This page has been set up to keep interested parties updated on how fundraising is going.
