Is this you? 👀
Let's talk about your offer - it's important to keep bringing it up. I’ve spoken with many a dog trainer who is hitting a brick wall with sales and simply isn't chatting about their offerings enough. Then when they don't get sales they say 'social media doesn't work for me'.
Mentioning it just once a week (if at all) won't work to get the results you're after.
You have to include it in your regular conversations.
If you're not, there's a good chance that a significant portion of your audience isn't even aware of what you're offering, which can make it difficult for them to make a decision, right?
Here are 3 different ways to keep your offering at the forefront of their minds:
1. Could you share the story behind your offer? What inspired you to create it, and how did you gather all the valuable insights packed inside?
2. Shout about what makes your offer different. Does your training approach differ in itself? Do you offer a distinctive and efficient method?
I'm not talking positive reinforcement vs balanced, FYI. I'm talking about your unique teaching styles. For example, I know a dog trainer who loves to show dog guardians how to train whilst fitting it into their lifestyle.
3 Addressing a common misconception in the dog training world and explaining how your offer provides a fresh perspective can be an effective way to stand out in the sea of dog trainers.
Keep the conversation going about what you have to offer!

Confession - selling makes me awkward! 🙈I know I'm not alone in this feeling of pure ick when it comes to selling your services. But I want you to remember something... maybe even write it down on a post-it note and stick it near your desk.Serve, not sell. 👌Do you believe in your product and think it can help them?If you're writing a selling post, let that lead the way. For example, you might be a dog trainer who runs recall courses. There are people out there who struggle with recall, so you need to let them know about what you offer. You are doing them a disservice by NOT telling them. It's always a wise idea to flip the narrative on your mindset (serve, not sell!) when the ick feeling creeps in.👋 Let me know in the comments if you also suffer from the selling ick!
I've lost count of the social media accounts in my niche that has grown faster than me.
The fact is - accounts grow at different rates. Some will grow slower, some will grow faster.
Your account is not about them, it's about YOU. It's about your 'journey'.
The only person you can compare yourself to is who you were yesterday.
Does anyone else share my sentiments? 🙃
Reach is busting my chops. Nothing makes sense. Even reels are going a bit, Pete Tong.
I didn't plan on doing this but felt that I could control something on Instagram...
...and it was to not focus on it and focus on other marketing platforms instead. Like Google My Business, who knew that was something I could be working on... well I do now!
Pinterest - I think I might love you, Pinterest. You and your slow pinny ways.
So my advice to you when you feel like a platform is doing you dirty... focus on another platform that does bring you joy.
Rumour has it Mosseri is doing a 360 on his initial waffle and is a few people I know now have 1080 x 1350 (4:5 aspect) grid posts on their profile which is much more up my street!

It's a little bit annoying but it's true.
Showing up consistently on your socials will...
- Increase your visibility and grow your audience.
- build relationships and trust with that audience.
- ultimately leading to conversions!
Huge caveat on this - you're also human and your priorities change all the time so never give yourself a hard time for having a content blip.
If you're looking to keep consistent but have zero time, feel free to DM me for a chat! 🙂

Shadowbanning...
It's not a thing. 😬
The truth is and I know this is hard to hear, but really it could be that your content on that particular post wasn't that good. It didn't hit the mark with your audience.
It happens to us all.
What you can do about this 👇
- revisit your content, have a look at your insights - what is working well, what isn't?
- use all the features. It's a dog hair in to 2022 and we already have so many new features on Facebook and Instagram and they WANT you to use them. Reminders, live reminders, collabs, link stickers etc!
- talk. make the time to engage with your audience.
- embrace video content, it's going nowhere! 📹
Who's noticed a slump in their reach of late and what are you doing about it? Let me know in the comments below! 👇

- actually make money from your social media?

If you answered yes to the above then you should absolutely book in a power hour with me!

Do you ever feel like you talk (engage) with the same people on your socials?
The same people liking your posts, the same people commenting on your posts, the same people reacting to your stories.
These people are brilliant, I do love them dearly so don't get me wrong here.
But.... it can feel a bit samey, a bit like Groundhog Day (a different film but you know what I mean).
These people are your friends/supporters and they are your Die Hards and i bloomin' love them. But actually, they aren't the ones who you are trying to convert.
So how do you get out of the Truman Showesque rut?
I have a couple of ideas...
- set some time aside (say 20 minutes a day) and start having conversations (don't start ignoring your die hards, perhaps include them in this 20 minute window). These conversations could be on your own posts (so replying to comments), it could be on other peoples posts, it could be your dm's, you could even reply to other peoples stories and start a conversation that way. Basically, start building relationships, social media is called 'social' media for reason.
- have a look through the hashtags you are using and regularly have conversations with other people using the same hashtags.
Example - if you are a dog walker and you lived in Surrey, you would absolutely be going to #surreydogs and having a good old chin wag with people who are using that hashtag!
- if you're a local business who relies on local trade, then go in to your location tags and start conversations with people who are tagging themselves at these locations.
If you found this useful, please do save for later!
“And in case I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening, and goodnight.”
So, we're getting ready to say bye-bye to 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣1️⃣
How's about we pick up some good social media habits in 2022?
Here are some ideas...
1. Stop worrying about how your Instagram feed looks.
You are the only person who cares about what your last post looks like against your latest post. Concentrate more on the quality of content.
2. Stop watching the follower count.
If they unfollow you - they weren't your ideal client. Absolutely say cheerio to them. Focus on the followers you have and who are engaging with your content.
3. Don't delete reels.
I get it. A reel flops and you have the urge to delete and try again at a later time. The thing with reels is they have a much longer lifespan than a post. You will find that a reel will normally keep increasing in views and in some cases can take on a whole new lease of life down the line.
4. Place your hashtags in your caption.
Instagram has spoken - hashtags are better placed in the caption. So... if you are going to be still putting them in the comments, then this is ok... it will still get hashtag reach. However, you won't be found by the 'search' feature unless you put them in the caption.
5. Be yourself.
Authentically you is better than trying to give off a persona that you are not. If it's not in your comfort zone to lip-sync in a reel, then don't. There are plenty of ways to show up on Instagram/Facebook without giving yourself the cringe.
6. Test it.
When it comes to your content - test, measure, reflect and refine!
Keep watching the data behind your content.
Wishing you all a very Happy Hogmanay and I shall see you on the other side! 🥂
... and that's a wrap! 🤓
I'll be taking a little Christmas break to enjoy some needed downtime with my family and copious amounts of Quality Street!
But I must say this...
Thank you!!
The support I've had this year has been so lovely. Niching to the pet industry was not an easy decision, I spent a good year procrastinating on it but I've got zero regrets! You guys are awesome. 💛
How are you going to be a scroll-stopper❓
They say you have just three seconds to stop the scroll, so it’s important to think about that when choosing what to post on your feed and what to write to ensure people read to the end.
One thing I always tell my clients: take a look at your insights on each platform, see what combinations worked for your audience.
🔍 Did a post with emojis do better than one without them?
🔍 Did a real photo crush it compared to a graphic?
🔍 Did a call-to-action actually get the engagement you wanted?
