A little reminder that giving credit costs absolutely nothing. đź‘‹
If you use a photographer’s image in your post, tag them.
If you took inspiration from someone else’s content, mention them.
If you’re celebrating a business milestone that was helped along by freelancers, agencies or contractors, acknowledge them too.
Yes, it’s the path we chose as freelancers. We know we’re not employees. We know we’re often brought in to work behind the scenes. And we know that many of the wins we contribute to won’t have our name attached to them.
But sometimes I see brands shouting about huge achievements (and rightly so) and I can’t help but think about the freelancer, or team of freelancers, quietly working their socks off in the background who rarely get a mention.
The photographer who created the imagery.
The designer who built the assets.
The copywriter who found the words.
The VA keeping everything moving.
The marketer helping drive the results.
The people whose work helped make that milestone possible. đź‘€
A simple tag takes seconds.
But for a freelancer, that recognition can mean visibility, credibility, referrals and future work.
So if you’re one of the businesses that regularly acknowledges the people behind the scenes, I genuinely applaud you.👏
