🔍 Debridement and Blister Care in Burn Wounds
As part of National Burn Awareness Day, we’re proud to be supporting Children's Burns Trust to spread awareness on proper burn care.
Debridement is essential to fully visualise the wound bed, whether it’s a one-off or an ongoing procedure.
When it comes to blisters:
• Small blisters (smaller than your fingernail) can be left intact.
• Larger blisters should be deroofed, as the skin is dead and needs to be removed for proper healing.
• Blisters on the palm? These should remain intact unless they affect functionality, as removing them can be painful.

It’s National Burn Awareness Day! 🔥
We have teamed up with Children's Burns Trust to spread awareness on immediate burn care and prevention.
If your child was burned or scalded, would you know what to do?
Knowing how to respond quickly can make all the difference.
Remember the Four Cs for immediate burn care:
1. COOL the burn with running water for 20 minutes.
2. COVER the burn with cling film or a clean cloth to protect the wound.
3. CALL for help if the burn is larger than a 50p coin, call 999, 111, or your local GP.
4. CARE for the person, offer reassurance, monitor them, and provide over-the-counter painkillers like paracetamol or ibuprofen to help with the pain.
