Disney+ UK and Northern Ireland Screen are joining forces in a ground-breaking collaboration, as announced at the Belfast Media Festival .🎬

This remarkable initiative to support and grow the production sector in Northern Ireland invites local independent production companies to pitch for a chance to receive a development fund awarded by Disney+ UK and Northern Ireland Screen.

Up to five Northern Ireland-based companies will be awarded funding and exclusive one-on-one creative sessions with Sean Doyle, Director of Unscripted, Disney+ EMEA.

There is a great Irish saying 🗣️

“There is no strength without unity‍”

The meaning: The team that works well together, succeeds.‍

The application: If you create a culture of teamwork and the results will speak for themselves. There are lots of ways to do this but my favourites include; creating channels for open and honest communication, aligning your teams
on shared goals and vision, and putting that work in action.

A special thanks to Chris Grant OBE Chair of 🇬🇧🏀British Basketball Federation and BBFs Kieron Achara OLY MBE for welcoming me around the table in Manchester last week. It’s an exciting time for the sport of basketball 🏀 we have such a great story to tell, being the sleeping giant of sports within UK Sport !

After attending the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers it was great to catch up with Kamil Novak it’s with thanks to my time and education through FIBA Time Out 2.0 programme that I continue to grow within this great sport of basketball off the court.

Lots of work to get to do this week. I hope everyone braves Storm ⛈️ Debi and have a productive start to our week! 👊🏻

Meet the UK Global Screen Fund in Belfast on Thursday 30 June.

Come to this one-hour session to meet representatives from the UK Global Screen Fund (UKGSF), a screen-sector fund administered by British Film Institute that supports independent companies working across animation, documentary, film, games and TV, to grow international activity and partnerships. The session will explore funding opportunities offered by the Fund, including International Co-production funding for Film & TV, which is currently open for applications, and International Business Development funding which is opening for applications soon. This free, informal, session will outline the aims and opportunities of the UKGSF will include a Q&A to allow attending NI-based companies to find out more about this UK-wide resource.

As Ireland returns to Eurobasket competition in 2021, it's time to look back at Ireland's international basketball history.

Hoops Across the Ocean is a new book by Conor Meany that looks at the rise and fall of the Irish National Teams from the early 1980s until 2010. Focusing particularly on Ireland's connection to America, the book looks at the Irish Americans who came to help Ireland and the Irish who went to America to try and make an impact.

The book is available in both kindle and paperback versions this Friday, December 3rd on Amazon.
