The April showering has eased, the days are a little warmer, I even heard the s-word. I expect to hear someone playing Will Smith any day. We wish we had time for the sun but with so much more from The Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival our days are just too packed.
On Tuesday we play host to Chasing Amy: A Celebration of the Life and Songs of Amy Winehouse presented to us by Victoria Geelan on behalf of CQAF for a lunchtime and evening show.
On Wedensday the CQAF keeps coming with a show from Conway & McIntyre in Black Box at lunchtime and the launch of Ben Glover's new album 'And The Sun Breaks Through The Sky' while the Green Room plays host to the monthly Midweek Magic show.
Thursday sees County Donegal's Muireann Bradley join us for their second appearance at CQAF for an intimate performance of country, ragtime & Piedmont style blues from the 1920s & 1930s. We have forgiven them for almost breaking our phone system when the show was announced.
Kimmie Rhodes of Austin, Texas joins us in the Black Box on Friday for a rare solo performance to celebrate the release of some of her newer work and to tell tales of her experiences singing, recording and performing since breaking through in the 1980's. Strange Creatures DJs take up their usual spot in the Green Room to sooth the soul after a long week at work with carefully selected songs that pair well with a nice pint.
As we turn the corner into the home straight that is the weekend, Sara Pascoe will be speaking about her book Weirdo in Black Box on Saturday afternoon before Blue Whale return for the long awaited launch of their newest long player 'Last Immediate Images' that evening.
On Sunday, 'Revolution to Roxy: Phil Manzanera in Conversation' moves into the Black Box for our early show, with Scott Flanagan plays electric taking up evening duties while ' Too Much Too Young: The 2 Tone Records Story'. So much for the day of rest.
With luck the sun will stick around for next week, in them meantime we hope to see you in the Box.
