RADIO NOVA remembers Francoise Hardy the French singer songwriter and actress
who has just passed away aged 80.
Hear some of her songs throughout the day on www.RadioNOVAinternational.co
Mainly known for singing melancholic sentimental ballads, Hardy rose to prominence in the early 1960s as a leading figure of the yé-yé wave, derived from the English "yeah! yeah!" popularized by British beat music bands such as the Beatles.
Hardy is one of the best-selling singers in French history and was regarded as an iconic and influential figure in both French pop and fashion.
R.I.P. Francoise, au revoir and thank you for the music.

THE BREKKIE TREKKIE 2023 with Lawrence John and Danny Dee:
The show is named in tribute to Nova's popular 1980's breakfast show...
The BREKKIE TREKKIE, hosted originally by Bob Galllico & Declan Meehan.
But while the name is similar, The BREKKIE TREKKIE 2023 is an original off the wall show, with a tongue-in-cheek sci-fi theme.
Set in cyberspace, it's a SERIAL breakfast show, you can enjoy with your breakfast cereal.
IT'S BREAKFAST JIM... BUT NOT AS WE KNOW IT, the show's strapline serves as a clue to what you can expect, i.e. lots of sci-fi references and outer space imagery.
Original 1980's Nova jock Lawrence John is joined on the show by Danny Dee his former sidekick and partner in crime from their days together on the legendary cross border pirate ENERGY 106FM, which was hugely successful from 1997-2004.
The BREKKIE TREKKIE 2023, features clutterfree two-song sweeps plus many of the original RADIO NOVA jingles and favourites from the 80's.
As for the speech content, you can expect lots of banter and laughter with, jokes, sketches, put downs and puns, some bordering on the bizarre at times.
These guys always enjoy what they're doing, so the craic will be mighty and the laughter, even when it's at their own expense, is infectious.
Serial DJS and serial offenders, they are GOING TO HAVE A GOOD TIME...
even if it kills them... and it may well do...lol

Nothing has, or ever will, come close to Chris Cary’s original Radio Nova.
As a tribute to the original RADIO NOVA 1981-1986, we regularly play remastered aircheck recordings of original NOVA DJs, including Declan Meehan, Tom Hardy, Jason Maine, Tony Gareth, plus some of the syndicated shows by Casey Kasem, Rick Dees and Gary Owens.
As original RADIO NOVA DJs, John Clarke, Tony McKenzie and myself, play all the favourites from the NOVA years, plus the classic NOVA jingles and sweepers including Tony Allan’s iconic N-O-V-A liners and I.D.s and the occasional aircheck of NOVA supremo, Chris Cary.
But not to live entirely in the past, we also feature the best of today’s new music that fits in with the original sound of NOVA. This includes new songs by Michael Bolton, Belinda Carlisle, Simply Red, Rod Stewart, Bruce Springsteen, Diana Ross, Tears For Fears etc. all of whom are making new records that sound like songs from the NOVA years.
In fact as Cary’s first DJ on RADIO NOVA and the original NOVA music director, John Clarke believes Chris would be very proud of what we are doing on www.RadioNOVAinternational.co
We believe the original NOVA should not be a dying ember, so we continue as a living testament and acknowledgement of RADIO NOVA’s special contribution to Irish broadcasting.

Online overtakes FM and AM radio listening for the first time in the latest RAJAR figures.
Online listening continues to grow and has now overtaken listening on analogue FM and AM platforms for the first time on all radio, with the highest ever online listening share of 27.8% compared to analogue which is 27%.
For all radio, smart speaker listening continues to grow and is now at 16.6% of total listening which is a 19% increase year-on-year.

we are a commercial-free, not-for-profit radio station and so we welcome donations, large or small, to help with our running costs, which are quite expensive.
