The NEW August issue of Railway Modeller is out today!
It's mid summer, and the August edition of Railway Modeller carries the traditional outdoor garden line as the Railway of the Month – an exquisite O gauge recreation of the much-loved Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway, with automated digital control allowing its owner, Simon Kennedy, to sit back and watch the trains go by. Other layouts featured include Rhiw Mk.II, a new version of a BR diesel-era South Wales Valleys branch terminus originally featured in RM in 2012; Richmond, an N gauge recreation of a North Yorkshire branch terminus in just under 4' x 2'; Stodmarsh, an O gauge model of the East Kent Railway set during the Second World War; and a modular OO9 layout of another famous West Country line, the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. The Plan of the Month is Gledholt Junction, part of an extensive OO gauge system recreating the railways in the Huddersfield area in the later BR steam era, while Colwyn Model Railway Club celebrates its 60th anniversary, and Andrew Burnham shows how to install a digital decoder in an OO9 Peco/Kato Large England 0-4-0T+T. New product reviews include a complete train for the new TT:120 scale, in the form of a Class 50 diesel and Mk.IIf coaches from Hornby; the new Class 66 diesel in OO from Accurascale; and the Caprotti valve gear 'Black Five' from Hornby, also in OO.
