The Content Consultancy offers help with writing and editing copy for websites, newsletters and blogs This was such an amazing experience!
Please allow me to introduce myself: my name is Kate Llewellyn. I set up my own small business in January 2017 and my mission is to support fellow small businesses. I know time is tight and I aim to offer help with writing and editing content for websites, newsletters and blogs, at a reasonable price and to alleviate some of the pressure on your time. I have always loved writing and that the study
of language, and I am a self-confessed pedant! MY BACKGROUND
I did my undergraduate degree at Cardiff University, focusing not only on grammar and semantics, but also learning about communication more broadly. I then read Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition at Oxford University for a Masters degree. The course really helped me to appreciate the importance of ‘plain English’ to aid the second language learner and to see English from a completely different perspective. My first publishing job was for Oxford University Press, working for the actual Oxford English Dictionary – it was a dream come true! I could call myself a lexicographer! I have worked for the dictionaries department three times in total and I have loved every second, working in such ‘minute detail’ with words. My main publishing experience was working for Palgrave Macmillan as a Commissioning Editor for social science textbooks. When I got the job, I simply could not believe that I would be working for an international academic book publisher. I had the most wonderful seven years. MY DRIVING FORCE
I wanted to start my own consultancy because I realised that talking to overworked, stressed, (yet!) committed, passionate small business owners how unfair it is nowadays that not only do you have to run your business (focussing on the products or services you first wanted to offer to the world), but you also have to be a legal expert, a financial guru and a social media manager! If I can take a little bit of that stress away…and help business owners to present the very best of themselves through their content, then I have had a good day!

I've had a few questions and enquiries about my planner and planning...including how to plan, when to post, what to post, remaining consistent, etc., etc.
Do those queries resonate?
To help as many people as I can, I have decided to run a 'How to plan your content' workshop on Friday 14th February from 11.30-12.30.
I will guide you through 3 steps that will help make planning easier and make content creation (i.e. implementation of these plans) less overwhelming too.
Sign up today and I'll forward on the latest mailing...with an exclusive subscriber offer.

I found out about this old Scots word and I am totally bringing it back in to common parlance! ...and no, it's nothing to do with Harry Potter!
We all have those clothes which we adore, even if they have seen better days, and they just make us feel cosy and warm. Perfect for a winter's evening or a stormy weekend.
Tell me about your own hufflebuffs (I have two oversized hoodies that are my fave)!
PS and .mia I am looking to you to help bring this words back in to use too 😆😘

Stop, improve or automate?
This was just one of the amazing takeaways from yesterday's "Getting Organised in 2025" guest expert session, with the incredible Becs McNeill , for The Content Club.
Becs gave us loads to think about, in terms of our workflows, as well as how we curate content and what we could to work smarter and more efficiently.
..and then to choose do something delightful with that time...not just fill it up with more work! What would you do?
🧁 🧁🧁
If you think you could get more organised and do things differently in 2025, get in touch with Becs (and then come join us in The Content Club too).

If it keeps the conversation going about mental health then I am also not completely against it. Sometimes, we need a little nudge to reflect on how we are coping.
This is why the Mental Health and Small Business - One Day Conference is near to International World Mental Health day on 10th October. Again, an awareness day shouldn't been needed, but if it prompts you to book a ticket and take the day to focus on you, raise awareness and signpost useful support, then I am all for it.
Earlybird tickets are now available for £72 (only until 30/06 - full price £85).
Full plans for 2025 will be announced soon. We know October is a long way off ...but your future self will thank you. We will also do all we can to refund or re-sell tickets should you be unable to attend.
Finally, we are still inviting applications for panellists and exhibitors (for £99), get in touch on [email protected] if interested.

🖥️Want to chat about your website?🖥️
💻...or a website you are designing??💻
Ask me questions and I can tell you more about SEO opportunities and my content writing expertise.
Back in November my son was part of a relaxed performance of the show he was in and lots of small adaptations made a huge difference to the audience.
In the same spirit, I am making a commitment in 2025 to accessibility and ways I can ensure my content is as accessible to as many people as possible.
With this in mind, I am shining a light on Alt text ...and how you can make imagery more accessible to those with a visual impairment. Please read my latest blog: https://thecontentconsultancy.com/how-to-write-alt-text-for-website-images (link via bio) and implement what you can on your own website images (and when uploading a LinkedIn image too).
My own eyesight is -10.00 and I have the smallest of smallest insights when I take out my lenses and can't find my glasses what it is like to suddenly feel vulnerable and alienated from the world around me, especially in unfamiliar surroundings.
Small things can make a big difference, so don't forget that.

Second word of the year!!!
Sorry, I couldn't just go with one this year.
Growth is the word for me, but impact is the word for my clients and Clubbers.
I am really going to focus on measuring the difference I make with the content I create and the support I offer.
Any recommendations or ideas welcome on how to do this, comment below!

Why do you do marketing? Is it achieving what you want it to? Do you enjoy it? Is it effective?
All of these questions can be hard to answer ...so start 2025 with a bit of reflection and an audit of your content.
It's incredible what it can reveal.
And did you know...? One of the first pages in my 2025 content planner is a 2024 reflection page. I'll pop the link to buy one in the comments.

Preparation is key to content creation consistency.
I recommend five things to prepare to help you maintain consistency in 2025:
➡️ 1. clear brand guidelines
➡️ 2. a house style guide
➡️ 3. asset folder/organisation
➡️ 4. templates (as many as possible)
➡️ 5. Content creation records...or a plan, at least!!!
I hope this helps...and get in touch if you want to know more about any element.
So sorry my captions aren't working 😥😥😥
