Our Story

The Basingstoke Gazette is the premier local newspaper covering the town of Basingstoke and surrounding areas in North Hampshire and West Berkshire. Founded in 1878, The Gazette has a long and proud history of providing the town with public interest journalism, original reporting, exclusive news stories and entertainment each week.

Our newspaper is committed to standing up for residents, taking on community campaigns and shining a light on issues plighting the town. We also pledge to stand up for the business community as well as the readers, and hold those in power to account.

We operate a 24/7 news operation with our website constantly up-to-date with breaking news and updates from Basingstoke, North Hampshire and West Berkshire. The Gazette strives to be the first with the news and facts and the first to provide the town with trusted, local news from our professionally-trained journalists. Our website can be accessed here: www.basingstokegazette.co.uk.

Our newspaper, owned by Newsquest, is published each Thursday and is available on news stands across the town for £1.
