Hey you, yes you. How are you?

It's Mental Health Awareness Week.

Mental health is talked about a lot and rightly so but if you've never experienced a mental health issue, then maybe it's something that you take for granted.

I might be smiling (I love to smile) but what's really going on behind my eyes? Excitement? Overwhelm? Joy? Worry?

Your mental health is as important as your physical health.

If you're a parent or business owner you need high levels of resilience.

A woman I was chatting to today said something so pertinent when I was breezily chatting about the downs and ups of entrepreneurial life.

'Self care'. It's more than a long bath, buying flowers, or having lie in (although those things are good too). It's about loving who you are and looking after yourself as well as you do your loved ones.

So how are you really feeling today?

Social media is like going to the gym. 🏋️‍♀️

Hear me out. 👇🏻

I've spoken to lots of people who are frustrated by not getting results on social.

Here's an example.

'I have an Instagram account but I'm not getting any engagement and no interest in my service.'

OK, I can help! How often do you post?

'Once a week maybe?'

Stay with me.

So you have a gym membership? Great!

Yes, but I'm not seeing any results.

How often do you go?

Once a week?

Ah.

So. Setting things up and expecting them to take care of themselves is not going to work.

Just like committing to regular workouts, social media management needs time, passion and dedication.

There is no magic switch for a perfect body or a highly engaged social media account.

If you have no plan, no idea what you're doing, or no drive, you will most likely fail.

Social media is a muscle you must use. Like going to the gym, consistency is absolutely key. 🔑

Social media LOVES you to be social. Are you going to go to a party and stand in the corner by yourself? (No judgement if you do!)

Being on social is not enough. 🙃

You need to engage - a lot. 🤝

Think of walking into a party in real life - you are present but you don't talk to anyone. You're not going to have a great time.

The infamous algorithm gets a bad rep but it loves you to engage with other people. Instagram's big brother is Facebook - which was originally set up as a friends and family platform - which also means if you are a business, you need to 'pay to play'.

Get involved! Set aside 10 minutes a day at least.

It's all about building a community around you. People buy from people. But, even more, people buy experiences.
