“Schindler's List" grossed a jaw-dropping $320 million, and the mastermind behind it, Steven Spielberg, did not retain any proceeds. 😱

💬 “It is blood money; I didn’t take a single dollar from the profits,” said Steven Spielberg.

Quick note: "Schindler’s List" is set on a true story. Following the narrative of Oskar Schindler, who saved more than 1,200 Polish Jews during WWII.

Spielberg never made the film in search of a quick buck.

Spielberg crafted the icon to share the story of a hero with the desire to promote tolerance for the future.

“When I first decided to make 'Schindler’s List’, if this movie makes any profit, it can’t go to me or my family; it has to go out into the world.”

So, what happened to Spielberg’s salary?

He donated all his proceedings to the Righteous Persons Foundation, which he helped establish.

To what lengths do you think creators are willing to go in the pursuit of perfection? 🤔

Would they sacrifice their health, family, or sanity?

It's a possibility.

In a notable example, Norman Taurog (Director of the 1931 film 'Skippy') took it to an extreme by threatening harm to Jackie Cooper's dog when Jackie was just 9 years old. Threatening the beloved companion of a child is undoubtedly an inappropriate media stunt.

Nonetheless, this extreme act serves as a stark reminder that the quest for perfection, when taken to such lengths, not only crosses ethical boundaries but also raises profound questions about the true cost of artistic excellence.

Page Break Media has undertaken a mission to redress a profound injustice—a serious offence against a hero whose pivotal contributions saved millions of lives.

This injustice involves the airbrushing of a fellow Aberdonian from the records of history, a selfless individual who helped co-discover a groundbreaking drug capable of curing the most formidable of diseases.

Though not without its challenges, the transformation that stems from a remarkable project is nothing short of extraordinary. At the heart of every fantastic project lies a passion —something Richard Burke, Director, often emphasises as essential. As he puts it, "nothing feeds into the fabric of a project more than passion." Indeed, the Page Break team exuded an unwavering passion that became the driving force behind our endeavours.

While the path was relatively smooth, it was not without its share of challenges or, as Richard aptly puts it, "a few hiccups" along the way. From exhaustive research and meticulous production to thorough editing, the journey encompassed a multitude of tasks. The culmination of these efforts resulted in the creation of a tribute, achieved with invaluable support from the JJR Macleod Statue Society.

It's essential to clarify that the documentary does not seek to provide complete justice to Macleod; rather, it serves as the inaugural and robust step toward establishing a foundation for the comprehensive dispensation of justice. The documentary, produced by Page Break Media, represents a compelling narrative, shedding light on a story suppressed by the so-called "victors."

Did you ever wonder about the spine-tingling moment in the 1992 classic "Candyman," where Tony Todd had REAL bees in his mouth? 🤯

Here's the inside scoop👇🏼

Real bees were used, but there were safety precautions! Todd had a dental dam in place to keep the bees from going down his throat. 🦷🐝

He risked it all to bring us the chills we love, but despite of the safety measures, he got stung during filming! 😱🔥 Talk about commitment to the craft!

What is even more interesting is that Tony Todd earned $1,000 for every bee sting in the daring scene. He walked away with a jaw-dropping $27,000! 😱💸 If you were in his shoes, would you take the risk for the reward?

We have an important date for your calendar. Plus an extra bonus video. It’s official! The unveiling of the JJR Macleod statue giving him the recognition he deserves is about to be revealed. Now, if you haven’t seen our last dozen posts, you may be confused. Who is Macleod? And why on Earth should you know him? Macleod was a Scottish biochemist and physiologist, who was jointly awarded the Nobel Prize for Physiology for the discovery and isolation of insulin. Yet, two of his co-discoverers, Banting and Best, took all the credit and MacLeod was ‘air brushed’ out…. It’s only now, 50 years later Macleod receives his due recognition. This is why we are adamant about being a part of this campaign to reinstate the true recognition of this remarkable man who saved countless lives. 📆 On the 12th of October, after an incredible amount of work from the JJR Macleod Memorial Statue Society Team, led by John Otto and Kimberlie Hamilton, the statue will be unveiled. In Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone’s collaboration, in ‘La La Land’ they play a musician and an actress trying to make it in Hollywood.
