Wow, 2024 has been my busiest yet - and that’s not a bad thing!

This year, I’ve taken big steps in the direction I’ve always wanted: more training, consulting, and finally launching open workshops! I also started teaching at the University of Salford, which has been such a rewarding experience. One module has now grown into three for the new year!

I’ve had the privilege of continuing work with long-time clients while also welcoming new ones, especially local businesses - a highlight I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. And thanks to you all, I was named a finalist in the Great British Businesswoman Awards, a real standout moment for me this year.

On top of that, I’m thrilled to share that Digital Flamingo has planted 227 trees through Play It Green - an initiative that I really need to shout about more! 🌲

I know I’ve been teasing something new here at Digital Flamingo, but with such a busy year, I had to push it back. The good news though is that it’ll be a fantastic way to start 2025, and I can’t wait to share it with you in January!

On a personal note, I’ve learned how to manage my time more wisely - a hard but necessary lesson when life gets busier than ever. As I head into 2025, I’m excited to hit the ground running. But for now, I’m officially out of office until 6th January for some much-needed rest. 🙌

A huge thank you to my friends and family for being so understanding and patient during this whirlwind year. You’ve been amazing. And to my ever-supportive clients, you truly are the best!

I’ve officially completed my first CPD year with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and it’s been a fantastic experience!

While I’ve always made time to learn and grow, this year felt especially focused. Marketing evolves so quickly, and the CIM CPD programme has been a great way to stay on track, adapt to industry changes and gain fresh insights from top professionals.

From attending the Digital City Festival to exploring the future of social media in webinars, it’s been a year of learning, growth and reassurance that what I deliver to clients isn’t just "good", but also impactful and relevant.

This CPD certificate reflects my dedication to staying sharp and delivering the best for my clients and students. It’s a great way to close out 2024 and dive into 2025 with fresh ideas and energy for the exciting projects ahead!

Video on LinkedIn isn’t exactly new, but they’re definitely making a big push with their brand-new vertical video feed that’s been in testing for a while! Video views and engagement are going through the roof for some users. This could be a gamechanger for how we share knowledge and insights there. What do you think? Follow-unfollow x3, hashtag drama, and DON'T get me started on 1-second Reels chaos! 😆 Finding social media full of conflicting advice about social media? Yea, it's obviously not just you! Most of these "hacks" are unsubstantiated and, quite frankly, a dupe to get themselves more engagement, views, followers and/or sales. Not to help you with your actual marketing goals. TRY advice from trusted sources (and I do mean TRY, because what works for one may not necessarily work for your business!) and stay away from the gimmicky tricks. Full disclosure...I felt compelled to film this after the gym for some reason so I'm filtered up 🤣 #SocialMediaMarketing #SocialMedia

Instagram/Facebook Stories are definitely for the "here and now" moments, given its nature, and while shares, graphics and other edited visuals have their place, this is a fantastic chance to show that real-life human side and connect on a meaningful level. It's what people respond to the most (because never forget, people connect with people, after all!) Are you showing up on your Instagram or Facebook Stories?

The Pride Of Tameside Business Awards were back with a bang! 🌟 I'm honoured to have been on the judging panel, but WOW was it tough! 🙈 Every business impressed. Congrats to the winners, but honestly ALL of you make Tameside thrive!

What a gorgeous day for the E-Commerce Show North with Digital City Festival today! From AI to authenticity, the insights shared were eye-opening, and being surrounded by so many creative minds, I left feeling inspired and motivated to take on new challenges. Can't wait to put ideas stemmed from the talks today into action! (And check out that awesome 360-digital room at the end!) A huge thank you to UA92 for the hospitality today, too. It's a fantastic space and everyone was so welcoming!

I'M CALLING THIS NONSENSE OUT! Imagine pouring your heart into content you know your ideal audience would like, only to see crickets because most of your followers aren't engaging with it. But hey, at least your follower count is up, right? Wrong. These tactics are a huge waste of time and energy. Building a following of unengaged users just hurts your reach and engagement further. You're certainly not beating or hacking any algorithm. These "hacks" are full of BS and usually only stroke someone's vanity. We all want growth but REAL growth with the right audience that actually brings results. Quality over quantity any day! 🙌

I don't know who needs to hear this, but...there is no secret formula in social media marketing! 😬 We're all on our own unique journey, which is why your strategy needs to be, too: different goals, audiences, audience behaviours, locations and other factors for one thing. What works for one person won't necessarily work for you (so if you've been comparing yourself, stop! 😆 It's a waste of energy!). Of course, there are best practices that are worth considering, but then you've got to approach it in a way that's best for you, your brand and your audience.
