Two pubs in Leicestershire have been ranked as among the best so far by a pair of newlyweds on a massive UK pub crawl. For the past 590 days Dale and Holly Harvey have been on a mammoth mission to drink at every UK pub - before many more of them close.
The couple had become upset about so many hostelries shutting their doors for ever due to the pandemic, then the cost of living crisis, and they decided to do something about it. Since March last year they have been to 2,192 pubs - including about 300 in Leicestershire - spent about £22,000 on booze and, on their busiest day, managed 27 pubs in a day.
Dale, 37, and Holly, 31, want to raise the profile of British boozers and their page about their travels - called The Great British Pub Crawl - now has about 15,000 followers.
And the couple, who live in Nottingham, said their top three pubs out of the more than 2,000 so far are The Dog and Parrot in Eastwood, near Nottingham, Brew in Ashby and the Phaarmacie Arms in Syston.

A GP suffered a heart attack while doing high-intensity training at his gym.
As a doctor, Sean Ottey knew that early intervention is the most important thing - getting the heart beating normally again before long-term damage can be done.
Luckily, the local air ambulance was able to whisk him away to Derby Royal Infirmary in just 12 minutes. He made a full recovery from the ordeal and is now urging people to support the The Air Ambulance Service, which is the charity that pays for the two local air ambulances and a third helicopter used for taking children from hospital to hospital.
Sean, 56, described what happened to him in August 2020 at Hood Park Leisure Centre in Ashby. He said he “felt absolutely fine” as he was taking part in the weekly high intensity training class that he has attended at the leisure centre for the past 15 years.
He said: “I remember doing a backward lunge and the next thing I was waking up in intensive care."
There is a history of heart problems in Sean’s family and despite him being a non-smoker and exercising regularly he believes “it is inevitable that I would have had a cardiac arrest at some point.”
Looking back now he says that he “was in the right place at the right time” when it happened as the leisure centre staff were First Aid trained and did CPR on him straight way. He said: “If I had a cardiac arrest when I was out walking on my own in the middle of nowhere the outcome would have been completely different."
