We think therefore we Dagenham!

Presidents, comrades, ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for all your support this week - we’ve had an absolutely incredible time performing for you!

The positive feedback has been insanely overwhelming and has humbled the entire cast and crew.

In an age where, 50 years on, women are still faced with inequality, especially in the workplace, with a gender pay gap unlikely to close for another 40 years, we’ve all been so passionate about telling this important story and standing up for women’s rights!

Emotions have run high on stage, behind the scenes and in the audience, with tears and laughter in equal measure. The sheer joy at the end of the show has been palpable.

Andover, it’s been an absolute pleasure to take you on this journey to Dagenham. But all good things must come to an end, so that’s a wrap!

We invited Burgers He Wrote to take a night off from scoffing the finest food in and around Andover, to step outside his musical comfort zone (did you know is/was a rapper?) to come and experience some musical theatre.

Stand up and fight for women’s rights!

Our fabulous Becky Rungen stands up as Barbara Castle, the First Secretary of State for ‘taking on the unions’. The said of Becky’s performance:

“She showcased what it was like to be a woman in a male dominated world and her voice - whether she was talking or singing - was brilliant.”

I had no idea what to expect and was absolutely blown away by a show absolutely worthy of a London stage. Yesterday our Dagenham Girls assembled a picket line on Andover High Street at the Second Sundays Andover event. After shouting the odds about our equal pay issue, we played a few tunes and wandered about handing out flyers. There were a few people who looked a little distressed at our ‘protest’ but hopefully they realised it was all part of the act! We’ll be back next week at the InAndover - from Andover BID Gardening Fair singing some songs from the show, so please do come down and have a listen. Ps. Be a love and book your tickets!
