A statement we've had quite a lot lately is that spaces would much rather show people around their spaces than using a Matterport digital twin tour. However, if you think these tours will affect your visitor numbers, you're very much mistaken.

Myth Buster: Does a Matterport Tour Kill Footfall? Nope! It Boosts It

I hear it all the time: "Won't a virtual tour just let people skip visiting my physical space?"

But here's the truth: Matterport tours are powerful tools for attracting and engaging potential customers, ultimately driving them through your doors. Here's how:

1. Lower the Barrier to Entry: Think of a Matterport tour as a 24/7 open house. People can explore your space at their convenience, from anywhere in the world. This removes geographical and time constraints, making it easier than ever for them to consider you.

2. Pre-qualify Leads: Virtual tours act as a filter. Interested individuals can virtually "walk through" your space, getting a feel for the layout, atmosphere, and amenities. This self-selection process ensures those who visit in person are genuinely interested and ready to convert.

3. Create Emotional Connection: Matterport's immersive experience allows potential customers to envision themselves using your space. They can virtually "try it on" for size, fostering a stronger emotional connection that translates into real-world visits.

4. Amplify Marketing Reach: Share your Matterport tour on social media, your website, and listings. It becomes a dynamic marketing asset, attracting new audiences and keeping your space top-of-mind.

But the real question is: ROI, right?

Studies show Matterport tours can:

Increase website engagement by 2x
Boost inquiries by 40%
Reduce physical visits needed by 30% (saving you time and resources)

Overall, Matterport tours are an investment in accessibility, engagement, and conversion. They act as a magnet, drawing people in and guiding them toward a physical visit.

Ready to give your footfall a boost? Let's chat about how a Matterport tour can work for you!

Open the Door to Endless Possibilities: Virtual Tours for Hospitality Venues

In today's digital landscape, first impressions matter more than ever. And for event planners, that first impression often comes through seeing your hospitable space.

Virtual tours offer an interactive, 360-degree exploration of your event spaces, transporting potential clients right into the heart of the action. Imagine them:

Gliding through the Grand Ballroom, picturing their guests mingling under sparkling chandeliers.

But the benefits don't stop there:

Increased interest and bookings: Virtual tours stand out from static photos, grabbing attention and boosting inquiries.

24/7 accessibility: Potential clients can explore your space anytime, anywhere, eliminating scheduling restrictions.

Enhanced decision-making: Virtual tours provide a clearer understanding of your space, leading to confident bookings and fewer site visits.

Reduced costs: Eliminate the need for constant physical tours, saving time and resources.

Are you looking to be more green within your business?

Matterport tours have a number of environmental benefits which we've explored with several of our clients, including:

Reduced travel: Matterport tours allow people to explore a space without having to travel to it in person. This can save time and money, and it can also reduce the environmental impact of travel.

Reduced paper waste: Matterport tours can be used to create digital versions of marketing materials, such as brochures and flyers. This can help to reduce paper waste and save trees.

So many different areas of business are able to use the tours, here are some specific examples of how Matterport tours are being used to reduce environmental impact:

Real estate: Matterport tours are being used by real estate agents to allow potential buyers to view properties without having to travel to them in person. This can save time and money, and it can also reduce the environmental impact of travel.

Universities: Many UK universities including our client (Brunel University London via SimulationCollective) are taking on more international students. The tours are an excellent way to showcase not only their learning spaces, but with a more in depth tour they could show all the social aspects and even student living without them having to travel to the UK to see it in person.

Science Lab space: We recently worked with the team at Kadans Science Partner on their Water Street, Canary Wharf installation. The tour was again an excellent way to show the space off to potential users without them having to travel into London to see it first hand.

Overall, Matterport tours are a valuable tool for reducing environmental impact. They can help to reduce travel, reduce waste, improve energy efficiency, and much more.

Does your building have a great big black hole in the middle of it?

Of course it doesn’t and neither should your Matterport scan.

As we’ve mentioned many times Matterport tours are a great way to showcase your space, whether you're a real estate agent, interior designer, or business owner. But before you publish your tour, it's important to make sure that you have enough scan data.

We’ve seen many tours recently that have been either rushed or just done as quickly as possible by the team behind the scan.

The thing is, the scan data is the information that Matterport uses to create your tour. It includes the 3D geometry of your space, as well as the colour and texture information. The more scan data you have, the more realistic and immersive your tour will be. This is why before we even begin a scan we explore the space, look to see where dead spots might potentially be and dress the rooms accordingly so we can fit our kit in those small spaces and collect that data.

Here are a few reasons why scan data is so important for a Matterport tour:

To create a realistic and immersive experience. The more scan data you have, the more realistic and immersive your tour will be. Users will be able to get a better sense of the layout of your space and the features that it has to offer.

To avoid black holes. If you don't have enough scan data, your tour will likely have black holes where the space hasn't been scanned. This can make your tour look unprofessional and unfinished.

To make it easier for users to navigate your space. With enough scan data, Matterport can create a more accurate floor plan and 3D model of your space. This will make it easier for users to navigate your tour and find the information they're looking for.

If you’re considering a scan for your space, drop us a line Perception Studios, Visual Marketing Agency to have a chat and we can take you through our processes, what we offer beyond doing the tour and most important, how affordable the scan actually is for your space.

26/09/2023

If you’ve clicked onto a you’ve created of your space, have you noticed how the user journey is a bit stop-start, moving in small, fragmented, and sometimes overlapping increments around the space?

It's infuriating isn’t it?

We see it all too often when we are asked to review existing virtual tours that clients have created. The reason for the fragmented nature of the tour is that the person selling you the service has literally come in, scanned, and walked away without any consideration around the use of the scan for you as a business, or of the experience of your potential customers.

The thing is, virtual tours are a great way to showcase your property or business, whether you're a real estate agent, interior designer, office, hotel, gym or a business owner with a space, but, before you publish your tour, it's important to edit it to create the best possible user experience. This is something that is baked into the DNA of our tours, we don’t charge our clients for creating the best user experience, it’s completely FREE as it’s just so essential to the final product.

One of the most important things to do is to remove unnecessary scan points. Scan points are the individual scans that make up your . While it's important to have enough scan points to fully capture the entire space and collect the data to make a great-looking dollhouse (the 3D model representation of your space), too many scan points can make your tour difficult to navigate. Here are a few reasons why you should remove scan points when editing your tour:

Improve the . Too many scan points can make your
tour slow and unresponsive. Users may have to wait for each scan point to load. Removing unnecessary scan points will make your tour faster and more enjoyable to use.

Highlight the most important features of your space. When you have
too many scan points, it can be difficult for users to find and focus on the most important features of your space. Removing unnecessary scan points will help you highlight the things that you want users to see, such as your layout, amenities, and unique features.

Create a more cohesive tour. Too many scan points can make your
tour feel disjointed and laborious to use. Removing unnecessary scan points will help to create a more cohesive and immersive experience for users.

So, if you’re having a tour created for your space, make sure you ask the provider about their editing process before they’ve taken your money to scan because a bad user experience will most certainly result in your audience spending less time exploring your facilities and more than likely mean they won’t spend money with you too if they’re clicking away from the tour.

If you’re still considering a scan, drop us a line at Perception Studios, Visual Marketing Agency and we can take you through our approach, process, and costs to ensure you get the best tool possible to help make your business more money.

Showcase your small space with a Matterport scan

Even the smallest spaces can be showcased in a big way with a Matterport scan. This means that potential buyers or renters can explore your small space in detail.

Here are some of the benefits of using a Matterport scan to showcase your small space:

* Stand out from the competition: Matterport scans are still relatively rare, so using one can help your small space stand out from the competition.
* Make your space feel bigger: Matterport scans can make small spaces feel bigger and more spacious. This is because they allow potential buyers or renters to see the space from all angles and to explore it at their own pace.
* Highlight your space's best features, such as its unique layout, it’s natural light, or its views.
* Make it easy for potential buyers or renters to visualise themselves living in your space: A Matterport scan allows potential buyers or renters to get a real feel for your space, even if they can't visit it in person.

Benefits of scanning large spaces

In addition to showcasing small spaces, Matterport scans can also be used to showcase large spaces, such as commercial properties, event venues, and educational institutions. Here are some of the benefits:

* Save time and money by eliminating the need for potential buyers or renters to visit the space in person.
* Increase engagement with potential buyers or renters by allowing them to explore the space in detail and to learn more about its features.
* Improve communication and collaboration between stakeholders, such as architects, contractors, and property managers.

If you're looking for a way to showcase your small or large space in a professional and engaging way, consider using a Matterport scan.

We often see scans of spaces that really have just been rushed. A dollhouse with massive gaps in it meaning missing data. Yes, the project is completed quicker, but, are you after speed or a tour that truly represents your brand, business, and space?

Matterport virtual tours are a powerful marketing tool for managed office space providers. They allow potential tenants to take a self-guided tour of your space from anywhere in the world, and they can be used to showcase your space's unique features and amenities.

However, in order for a Matterport virtual tour to be effective, it is important to scan the whole space correctly. Here are a few things we do before we even scan:

Plan our scan ahead of time. Walk through the space and identify all of the areas that we want to scan. Make sure that we have a clear path to walk and that there are no obstacles in our way and always concentrate on the user journey for when the scan goes live after editing.

We scan carefully and slowly. Allow the scanner enough time to capture all of the data. If you rush through the scan, you may miss important details.
Overlap your scans. This will help to ensure that there are no gaps in the virtual tour.

Scan all areas of the space, including the exterior, hallways, and common areas. This will give potential tenants a complete picture of your space.

If you get this right your tour can make a massive difference to your business.

Increased visibility and reach. Matterport virtual tours can be shared on your website, social media, and other online platforms. This will help you to reach a wider audience of potential tenants.

Improved lead generation. Matterport virtual tours can be used to generate leads by allowing potential tenants to book a viewing of your space directly from the virtual tour.

Shorter sales cycle. Matterport virtual tours can help to shorten the sales cycle by allowing potential tenants to get a good sense of your space before they even visit in person.

Increased tenant satisfaction. Matterport virtual tours can help to increase tenant satisfaction by giving tenants a realistic view of the space before they move in.

If you are looking for a way to improve your marketing and sales efforts, consider investing in a Matterport virtual tour for your managed office space. By scanning the whole space correctly, you can create a virtual tour that will showcase your space in the best possible light and attract more potential tenants.

When we come in to scan your property or space getting enough data is imperative. Not only will the dollshouse look unfinished without enough data, if we make sure we’ve got the data then we can make sure the user journey is perfect. After my most recent post, I’ve been asked by a few people “What is the user journey” on a virtual tour?

So let me explain, I’m sure you’ve been on a virtual tour by now, if you’ve not, visit our website perceptionstudios.co.uk What we do differently to a lot of our competition is take into consideration when scanning a property is how someone would walk around a space.

Rather than just walking in and scanning to capture a space and then handing that scan over to the client, we make sure you’ve got the best product to put in front of your potential customers.

When our clients enter a tour, they don’t have to keep clicking through hundreds of walk points that we’ve scanned to collect data. Instead, we remove any points that are unneeded so it makes seeing everything easy to explore.

A great example is our recent scan with Brunel University London with the team from SimulationCollective we had an incredibly long corridor to go down, however, we only wanted to showcase rooms midway and at the end. Now, what’s the point in leaving all the extra scan points in the corridor, nobody wants to spend five minutes clicking every 3meters, so we made that user journey easier.

If you’re looking to showcase your space with a scan, let’s have a chat and see how we can make sure your audience gets the best possible experience from your future tour.

Another glorious weekend in London doing a scan in for the team

As you can see, we don’t just turn up and scan a space and pass it back.

We make sure you’re showcasing your space in the best possible way, so when we scan we’re always thinking about your audiences journey, and capturing as much data as possible to make that a reality when we go into editing your space.

How can a Matterport Virtual Tour help a client with staff training?

Many businesses are often getting new starters, or contract workers in to complete tasks within their premises. So, imagine having a tool that enables you to make the training these new members of your team might need.

"A Matterport virtual tour can be a useful tool for training staff as it provides a 360-degree view of a physical space. Here are some ways how:

1. Orientation: Matterport virtual tours can help staff get oriented with a new facility, equipment, and infrastructure. This allows for a more comprehensive overview of the space and helps reduce the learning curve for new employees.

2. Safety: Matterport virtual tours enable staff to familiarize themselves with the layout of the space, including exits, fire extinguishers, and other safety equipment. This will improve their response in case of emergencies.

3. Procedures: The virtual tour can demonstrate proper protocols and procedures that are being followed in the space. For instance, in healthcare facilities, staff can learn how to navigate the different rooms, procedures of disinfecting equipment, and managing patient rooms.

4. Problem-solving: Virtual tours help staff understand how things are connected and where they fit into the bigger picture. By exploring the virtual environment, they can identify problem areas, simulate solutions, and observe the results in a controlled environment.

Overall, Matterport virtual tours offer an immersive experience for training staff, which can enhance their job performance and improve productivity."

I was recently asked at a convention, what problems can a Matterport Virtual Tour can solve for me? (they where in the hospitality industry).

So, what the heck, I thought to myself this is a LinkedIn post, so here it is. 3 problems a virtual tour can solve for the hospitality industry.

1. Lack of Physical Access: Matterport virtual tours can help solve the problem of lack of physical access to a hospitality property. Potential guests who cannot physically visit the property can experience a virtual tour from the comfort of their homes.

2. Unfamiliarity with the Property: Virtual tours can help solve the problem of unfamiliarity with the property. By providing a 360-degree virtual tour of the property, potential guests can explore and get a better understanding of the property's layout, style, and amenities.

3. Increased Conversion Rates: Virtual tours can also help solve the problem of low conversion rates. By providing an immersive and engaging experience, virtual tours can increase the likelihood of potential guests booking a stay at the hospitality property.

There are obviously way more benefits we could talk about, but, instead of me writing them here, drop me a DM and let's chat about them specifically for your space.
