Radio Christmas Returns to Amersham – with Oli O’Neil and “Mr Christmas” Ron Spicer at the Helm!

Radio Christmas is delighted to announce that Oli O’Neil (featured photo) and Ron Spicer—affectionately known as Mr Christmas—will be coordinating the Amersham studio for this year’s festive broadcasts!

Oli will serve as Studio Manager every Saturday leading up to Christmas, while Ron will take the Christmas reins on the first two Sundays in December.

A long-time presenter and technical producer for Radio Christmas, Oli shared his excitement:
“I’m thrilled to be part of Radio Christmas again this year. I hope local people will come and join me in the studio at Amersham Free Church to help spread some festive cheer across the Chilterns—and raise vital funds for our work with street-living and high-risk children around the world.”

We’re deeply grateful to Amersham Free Church for once again opening their doors to host the studio. The weekend broadcasts from Amersham will support the main Radio Christmas programming from Central America, connecting listeners locally and globally in one heartwarming mission: changing children’s lives through radio.

And there’s even more to look forward to!

Next year, Radio Christmas will return full-time to Amersham, broadcasting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, straight from the local studio. Get ready for a full season of festive joy, community spirit, and stories that make a difference.

Together, we’re turning Christmas cheer into life-changing hope.

Radio Christmas is excited to announce that the popular lunchtime show, The School Hour, will return from the 1st of December 2025.

Nicola Raher and Helen Carmody are coordinating the school´s work and would be very happy to hear from you and get your school on air this December.

The Radio Christmas School Hours are from 12:00pm – 1:00pm and from 1:00pm – 2:00pm weekdays from the 1st of December until the end of the school term.

Local schools in the Chilterns are invited to participate and can choose to broadcast from the Radio Christmas studio at Amersham Free Church, in Amersham, or live from their schools via Teams.

The Poulson and Francisco Rosales will be visiting the UK soon and will be holding a special supporters evening in Amersham on the 30th September. All are welcome to meet them and get an update on the projects we support.

Something as simple as being able to see properly can transform a child’s world. Poor eyesight can easily go unnoticed, but it often leads to children struggling at school, being labelled as “disruptive” or “slow,” and eventually dropping out. For children already at risk of gangs and street life, this adds yet another barrier to their future.

Most families we serve cannot afford the cost of an eye exam, let alone glasses. That’s why these checks are so necessary. When a child can finally read the board at school, join in activities with confidence, and see the world clearly, it opens up opportunities and restores hope.

We are committed to helping every child not just survive, but thrive. Something as small as an eye test and a pair of glasses can change a child’s future.

It's incredible what a donation of just £30 will do. Here in Guatemala, so many of the children we work with suffer from parasites, due to limited access to clean drinking water. A company here manufactures clay filters that cost only £30 and provides a family with clean, parasite-free drinking water for TWO YEARS! Why not help us support more families?

We are all very proud of Matthew Saller and thankful for all his help with Radio Christmas. Last night, Matthew received the Amersham Volunteer Award. Thanks to the Amersham Town Council for an excellent event.

Some of the team were out last night in La Terminal donating supplies to the families affected by the fire two weeks ago.
