Crewe and Nantwich’s new MP Connor Naismith has resigned his role as a councillor for the Crewe West ward at Cheshire East Council.
There will be a by-election to select his replacement, on 5th September 2024.

Team GB have picked up their first medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and of course there was a Cheshire athlete on the podium.
Cestrian Yasmin Harper scooped a bronze medal alongside London’s Scarlett Mew Jensenon on Saturday in the women’s 3m springboard synchro competition.
Congratulations Yasmin on such an incredible achievement in your Olympic debut! 🥉

Chester’s brilliant Midsummer Watch parade 2024 ☀️
Fire crews have been tackling a gas main that has burst and caught fire on Dee Banks in Chester. Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said there were no injuries and no damage to property, but asked people to avoid the area. They said they received multiple reports shortly after 8pm on Friday evening. Works are understood to have been taking place in the area to install new water pipes. Firefighters confirmed a medium sized gas main had leaked and ignited. The flames are not affecting nearby houses or the school, but as a precaution residents in neighbouring properties have been evacuated. An update from the fire service at around 9.30pm on Friday stated crews were continuing to dampen down the area and contain the flames. (Video credit: @thewing_king1 via Twitter)
