We now have a supply of this wonderful new book written by vet John Sauvage.
John became a vet student after leaving his local South London comprehensive. He recalls his days of lectures exams and practicals at the Royal Veterinary College, U. of London, whilst continuing to work at Streatham Bingo Hall.
He talks about his contributions to major debates and issues that arose during his career, including badgers and TB, the horrific experiences of foot and mouth disease and vaccinations and the anti-vaccine lobby.
John remembers the midwife saying "I called for a paediatrician" but when one didn't arrive she announced to the surgical and anaesthetic team "I will get a vet instead" and how he played a key role in the birth of his daughter!
Although retired and celebrating his 70th birthday in 2019, this hasn't stopped John from still advising on several heart cases for pets at his local veterinary practices in Hastings.
