On we'd like to highlight our author and world-class mastering engineer, Bob Katz.
Bob Katz played the B flat clarinet from the age of 10, and his lifelong love of sound and music led him to become a professional recording, mixing and mastering engineer, beginning in 1971. He has recorded and mastered more than a thousand recordings, including three Recording Academy / GRAMMYs award winners and several nominees. Located in Orlando, Fla., his CD-mastering house, Digital Domain, is versatile in all styles of music. Among Bob's specialties are Latin-jazz, salsa, merengue, reggaeton and the like; Progressive Rock; some Metal; Classical and "audiophile", with over one hundred audiophile jazz, rock, pop and classical recordings on Chesky Records. Artists included Kenny Rankin, McCoy Tyner, Livingston Taylor and Paquito D'Rivera. Bob has designed several digital audio devices, including the VSP Digital Audio Control Center and Jitter Reducer, and is the inventor of K-Stereo and K-Surround, patented processes which enhance the depth and spatiality of stereo recordings and convert stereo to 5.1, licensed to Weiss Engineering, Digital Domain and Z-Systems and soon to be a plugin by Algorithmix. Bob has written two influential books with Taylor & Francis: "Mastering Audio: The Art and the Science" and "iTunes Music: Mastering High Resolution Audio DeliveryβProduce Great Sounding Music with Mastered for iTunes".
