***SOLD ***Been enjoying the milder weather today albeit a tad windy with a wander down by the River Usk as Storm Eowyn seems to have been a bit kinder where I am. Now getting some lovely new stock ready for tomorrow's Saturday Abergavenny Market . Whilst this is my own prized teal Welsh coat, I shall be bringing in a beautiful vintage Welsh wool tapestry coat in exactly the same colour & design (size 16ish). Teal is always a favourite & they don't hang around long. Hope to see you there ❤️

Just thought I'd introduce myself to all the new followers on here. Welcome. So here's a bit about me - I'm Tracey. I run a shop in the Victorian market hall at Abergavenny Market - a place I've been visiting since I was 6 years old. I share the space with my lovely friend Delyn on the basis that neither of us wanted to work 4 days a week! You'll usually find me there on a Tuesday & Saturday (Delyn Wed & Fri) in between my adventures with my wonderful family.

I'm obsessed with Welsh wool & the history/heritage of Wales' woollen industry. I mainly sell vintage Welsh blankets & Welsh tapestry coats/capes but also new ones to support the last few remaining woollen mills. The space in between is filled with vintage & contemporary finds which absolutely must colour coordinate with the blankets such as artwork, studio pottery, clothing, jewellery, handbags, bric-a-brac, kitchenalia - a little bit of everything really. I have a space in my friend Cerys' beautiful shop Serendipity Rhayader & I also sell a selection of vintage items on my own website & on my Etsy shop (links in bio) but my real love is sharing my passion for my day job in person.

I have a wonderful loyal following who come into the shop regularly to see what new treasures I've uncovered & also online friends who buy regularly. We obviously have the same taste! So I thank you all - old & new. I couldn't do it without you. You are my motivation❤️

Is it just me? I'm supposed to be getting stock ready for the market tomorrow but look what I found in my local charity shop this morning! It was looking at me through the window saying out loud 'take me home - I match your living room'! Now in situ nestled in amongst the duck egg decor. When one is simply not enough...

I'll be putting in an extra shift this Friday as well as my usual Saturday whilst my lovely friend Delyn is busy with her new house. More opportunity to stroke Welsh blankets & fill up the space in between with pretties!

This stunning vintage Welsh wool tapestry blanket is sure to be star of the show! In daffodil yellow and Wedgwood blue. As ever it's reversible & I'm in love with the yellow side but do swipe pics to see which you'd prefer. King size. This pattern is a signature design called the 'Navajo' or 'Aztec' from Brynkir Mill near Porthmadog in North Wales which has long since closed. Knife edge borders to two sides & fringe to other two. Lovely condition. An absolute show stopper. Just added to my little website. Link in comments ❤️

Daffodil yellow anyone?!!! With all this cold weather & ice I'm so looking forward to Spring & there's no better way to bring a little sunshine into your home than a beautiful vintage Welsh wool tapestry blanket in daffodil yellow & green. I've just collected this beauty today. By Derw Mill (which has sadly gone now) & in one of their signature designs called 'Liquorice Allsort' it still has the original label. King size. Coming to the shop/stall Abergavenny Market tomorrow ❤️

Some time ago one of our lovely customers sent us this old photo. Abergavenny Market Hall once had an ice rink! The Ice Fair as it was known was revamped in 2003 and we'd love so see it back.

Aaaw what a lovely night away at the The Celtic Manor Resort for my eldest's birthday. Starting with Elf - The Musical. Suitably attired in full on Elf style of course! I'd never been to the ICCWales before. What a great venue. We didn't even know there was an ice rink too. We'll definitely be heading back next year. Felt like a treat staying just 2 miles down the road but was lovely to spoil my Mum & even better when my son turned up to surprise his older sister for her big day. Such precious family time especially an extended game of Uno in the bar & being trounced by 7 & 13 year old Grandchildren. We all enjoyed breakfast together this morning before I headed off to work at Abergavenny Market & they all went off for a swim at the hotel. Making every moment count. Just perfect to see in the New Year. Happy Birthday Jess ❤️

Well what a lovely Christmas Day spent with my Mum & Dad, two out of three of my grown-up children & my gorgeous Grandchildren. This was round one (sadly without my son who volunteered to work so that colleagues with children could enjoy time together). Round two was a lovely evening with my partner's family & today I'm not even getting out of my PJs! It's not always easy to negotiate sharing time between families but sometimes it's about making new traditions & coming to decisions together from a place of love & gratitude. Round three is on Saturday. I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas Day & are enjoying some down time❤️

Well that's a wrap! Delyn Thomas & I have just packed everything away in the shop ready for our Xmas break. It's stuffed full to within an inch of its life & we have no idea how we managed to close the doors! We will reopen on Tuesday 31st December. Thank you to everyone that has come in to buy from us this year or if you just popped in for a chat. Also to everyone that has bought online, commented, shared or liked social media posts. Every little helps & we are so grateful to each & every one of you. We couldn't do it without your support. See you New Year's Eve. Nadolig Llawen🎄

It was a busy day yesterday in the market with lots of welsh blankets, coats & vintage goodies going off to new homes for Christmas. There was a lovely atmosphere with a brass band playing carols up on the library balcony & it made for a perfect backdrop to get a visit from my fellow Welsh wool loving online follower Sue. It's always nice to swap tales & put names to faces. One of the best sides of my job ❤️

***SOLD ***the naughty elf has found the perfect place to keep warm in today's extra Monday Abergavenny Market ! He's cwtched up inside this fabulous vintage full length 1970s Welsh wool tapestry coat! Gorgeous teal green with tailored fit & original belt. I'd say a size 12ish. If only I was thinner!!! On the stall today. Shop open every day this week. Be lovely to see you ❤️

Bit of a 'bluesy' theme going on for tomorrow's stall then?!!! Just packing up some new finds for this weekend ready to bring them in to Abergavenny Market. Gorgeous vintage blue Welsh wool tapestry coat (size 14 to 16ish), original coastal oil painting, duck egg blue painted wooden stool, handmade rag wreath & my favourite French enamelware jug. Looking forward to incorporating them into the display along with matching Welsh blankets as ever. Don't forget the market is open Saturday & Sunday this weekend so 'double helpings' of loveliness ❤️
