Inspired by Vietnamese cuisine is both a visual and culinary feast. The pan-Asian restaurant, in Manchester city centre, is beautifully decorated with equally impressive presentation. Faux flowers, hanging lanterns and oriental crockery makes this venue fit for any occasion. I throughly enjoyed my solo-dining experience despite requiring alternative cutlery - chopsticks are not my forte! Thankfully, the team were more than happy to accommodate this.

Sugar Junction!

is a vintage tearoom in Manchesters’ Northern Quarter. The quaint eatery is decorated in an authentically retro vibe with wooden tables, China tea pots and pin-up posters. As for the food, it was beautiful both in presentation and flavour. This combination was a bit of me with three of my favourite things on one plate - pistachio, coffee and French toast. Obviously, the only thing to accompany such a delight was a ‘fancy’ latte. .

Just like Alice, I stumbled across Wonderland or at least Manchesters’ equivalent. is a themed venue serving curiosity, magic and delight. From the floral entrance to the highly decorated interior everything is inspired by the classic tale. An enchanting café well worth a visit - everyone is welcome!

The sunniest welcome in Manchester!

Whatever the weather promises a warm reception. From a friendly greeting to providing branded umbrellas to shield guests while waiting for an available table. The popularity of this customer-focussed coffee shop was evident by the sheer volume of those willing to stand in the rain. Luckily, I arrived early and avoided any lengthly queuing - even though it would’ve been worth it! With locations across Manchester, each serving all-day brunch and authentic Antipodean vibes, is *the* place to visit.

Each city centre location is transformed into an exquisite space. are renowned for aesthetic venues which effortlessly complement their dishes. From presentation to flavour the elevated Chinese cuisine is food heaven. It is a *tad* pricey so for those, like me, on a budget i’d recommend ‘The Taste of Tattu’ set menu available on selected days & times.

Ach, why nae.. a little indulgence never hurt nobody, right?

As the name suggests specialize in chunky bakes, stuffed cookies and the infamous brookie - a combination of brownie and cookie sandwiched together by a flavored layer. The mouth-watering creations regularly sell-out so arrive early to avoid disappointment. If you happen to miss out on baked goods definitely check out their drinks menu as it is equally as impressive. Staff are super friendly and can help you decide what to order to satisfy all types of cravings.

, on Commercial Street, has all the charm associated with Dundees’ seafaring past while incorporating a sense of adventure. A fun and flavorsome menu adds a further level of uniqueness to the gastropub. From wee plates, designed for sharing, to big plates, burgers & flatbreads. There is a wide selection of Scottish produce mixed with classic dishes. If melt-in-the-mouth slow cooked pork is your thing then I highly recommend the Sticky Korean Pork Belly with Pak Choi and Lemon & Coriander Rice *chefs kiss*

is where New Zealand meets Scotland. An independent brunch spot offering the best of both countries. The menu is uniquely different with a wide variety of ingredients including unusual flavour combinations. Hola Mexico!

Mexican cuisine has to be one of my all-time favourites and .dundee did not disappoint. An intimate restaurant, in the heart of Dundee, with a contemporary vision. The menu combines classic dishes with exquisite flavours to create unique recipes. Traditional decor is intertwined alongside quirky features including repurposed tequila bottles. A fun venue worth adding to your must-visit list. I recommend the Margarita Chicken special accompanied by the inspired Margarita cocktail - because you can never have too much tequila!

is a bustling business located along Rubislaw Terrace. The basement café is deceptively roomy aided by outdoor seating to the rear and front. Operating on a walk-in only basis tables indoors are first-come-first served. Wait times and service are prompt with adequate techniques for busy periods - including the lunchtime rush - which I quickly learned was not the ideal time to make a first visit. Open Tuesday - Saturday serving daily specials, made to order sandwiches/toasties & breakfast till 11.30.

is more than just a café, as the name suggests, it also roasts beans on site. If the sweet smell of coffee doesn’t guide you then the pink paint most certainly will. Located on Huntly Street, in the former , speciality coffee is available to sit-in, takeaway or as take-home 250g or 1kg bags. Whichever your preference or if you can’t decide the team are experts in all things coffee. From process to flavour combinations they have you covered.

offers nutritiously-balanced macro-counted meals and snacks for all (not just fitness-fanatics!). A brightly coloured venue, tucked neatly on West Regent Street, welcomes the health-conscious, flavour-seekers and everything in-between. It’s a tight squeeze within the pink walls however access to an outdoor area increases seating capacity. It’s a busy wee place, without a booking system, so you may need to wait for a table but it is 100% worth it!

As the name suggests takes inspiration from the Scottish highlands and delivers it to Glasgow. The decor pays tribute to tradition with tartan, bagpipes & whisky barrels while the menu seeks to elevate classic recipes. A dining experience offering sustainably sourced cuisine served in a contemporary style. Each dish is uniquely curated, well-portioned and swiftly served. Despite only being a mere 5 minutes from Buchanan bus station I had never heard nor been so if no-one has told you about this place before this is your sign to go!
