Bob Clearmountain has lost his Pacific Pallisades home and studio in this fire.
Thankfully, Bob and his family are OK. In the midst of such devastation the loss of cultural items like studios and master tapes seems relatively minor, but I am sure we will all feel the effects in this industry, and for folk like Bob this was a lifetime's memories and their home as well.

Every home cinema should have one? :)

"This is the Mitsubishi Diatone D160, the largest subwoofer ever built, with 60 inches in the 1980s. Weighing 800kg, it can easily shatter windows and produces small earthquakes that can be felt like ground vibrations within a 2-kilometer range. At the Koriyama factory, the test was conducted at first in the measuring room, but was stopped because the ceiling lamps fell due to vibration. The outdoor test appeared to have a negative impact on the neighborhood. At a distance of about 100 m from the speaker, the sound was felt, but at a greater distance, it was transmitted as vibration and noise on the earth instead of an audible sound. Within a 2-kilometer radius of the factory, damage such as vibrations, small earthquakes, as well as noises from walls and windows occurred."

Rockfield Studio Tour dates and times:

November/December 2024
• Friday 29th November at 10.30am, 1.30pm & 4.30pm
• Saturday 30th November at 10.30am,1.30pm & 4.30pm
• Sunday 1st December at 10.30am & 4.30pm
• Monday 2nd December at 10.30am,1.30pm & 4.30pm
• Tuesday 3rd December at 10.30am,1.30pm & 4.30pm

June 2025
• Tuesday 10th June at 4.30pm
• Wednesday 11th June at 1.30pm & 4.30pm
• Thursday 12th June at 10.30am
If you are unable to make these dates, we are holding more in August/September 2025

TOUR DETAILS
An hour and half’s tour of information and stories on the history of Rockfield and the bands that have recorded here. You will be taken into both the Coach House and Quadrangle Studio and given the chance to listen to some of the music that has been recorded in them over the years. You will also be shown the unique echo chamber and hear how the shape of the room affects the sound
All the tours will be taken by a member of the Ward family and one of our in house engineers.

Tours are £50 per person

After the tour you are welcome to join the rest of your group for tea/Coffee and biscuits.

You are also given the opportunity to stay in the accommodation that all the bands have stayed in over the years.
If you would like to make a booking, just let me know what you would like, and I will get you booked in.
