International Council for Film, Television and Audiovisual Communication International Council for Film, Television and Audiovisual Communication (ICFT), located at UNESCO HQ's in Paris, France, was founded by UNESCO in 1957.

ICFT has been functioning as advisory and executive agency to UNESCO, as well as a link between UNESCO and the civil society on all matters relating to film, television and new media by providing consultancy, professionals, talents and technical support. ICFT organizes international cultural, artistic and educational events, reinforces international exchange and cooperation, provide strategic direction, policy guidance and expert support for regional, national and local development.

The International Council for Film, Television and Audiovisual Communication (CICT-ICFT) awarded its prize with the UNESCO Gandhi medal at the occasion of the 52nd International Film Festival of India (IFFIGOA) in Goa to the film Lingui the Sacred Bonds by Mahamat-Saleh Haroun (Chad).
The jury motivated “For its powerful description of the struggle of a mother for her daughter in Chad today. The film emphasizes the necessity of the bonds between women and their valiant fight against the injurious abuse of patriarchy. The film raises awareness of gender issues as well as the fundamental right to education for women and girls, values promoted by UNESCO.”
The CICT-ICFT International Jury was composed by:Isabelle Danel (France) , Agnès Ravoyard (France), Xueyuan Hun (China), Ahmed Badjaoui (Algeria), and Manouj Kadaamh (India).

The Forum is part of UNESCO’s strategic support to policy makers, memory institutions, and other stakeholders seeking to implement the UNESCO Recommendation concerning the preservation of, and access to, documentary heritage including in digital form.
