The International Council for Film, Television and Audiovisual Communication (CICT-ICFT) awarded its prize with the UNESCO Gandhi medal at the occasion of the 52nd International Film Festival of India (IFFIGOA) in Goa to the film Lingui the Sacred Bonds by Mahamat-Saleh Haroun (Chad).
The jury motivated “For its powerful description of the struggle of a mother for her daughter in Chad today. The film emphasizes the necessity of the bonds between women and their valiant fight against the injurious abuse of patriarchy. The film raises awareness of gender issues as well as the fundamental right to education for women and girls, values promoted by UNESCO.”
The CICT-ICFT International Jury was composed by:Isabelle Danel (France) , Agnès Ravoyard (France), Xueyuan Hun (China), Ahmed Badjaoui (Algeria), and Manouj Kadaamh (India).

UNESCO’s 2nd Memory of the World Global Policy Forum will take place from 21 to 22 September 2021 at UNESCO Headquarters. The Forum is part of UNESCO’s strategic support to policy makers, memory institutions, and other stakeholders seeking to implement the UNESCO Recommendation concerning the preservation of, and access to, documentary heritage including in digital form.
