People’s Power Organization Donated Medicines to the Jinak Health Center
Jinak, a village located in the North Bank region, lower Niumi, was the host of the People’s Power Organization of the Gambia on Saturday, October 12th, 2024.
People’s Power is a nonprofit organization purely established on the strong principles of democracy and good governance. It is greatly concerned with educating and enlightening the citizens on their roles and responsibilities.
The organization was headed by its Chairman Alhagie Fatty, and the People’s Power Organization health and communication department. The team went with three boxes which contained medicine, clothes, a bag of sugar, and a toy for the kids
as well.
The Chairman of the Jinak village development committee Amadou Manneh’’ thanks People’s Power Organization and promises the items will be put into good use and expressed satisfaction with the gesture to come and see what is really, affecting them in the village.’’
The village leaders, Badou Sonko and Yunisa Sonko, both emphasized the importance of medicines. Because the entire village is full of water everywhere, which makes the villagers vulnerable to all kinds of sickness, these medicines will help them.
Nuha Manneh the Alkalo Representative “Spoke on the current condition of the village regarding road networks and lack of basic facilities that a village should have and thanked people Power organization for coming all the way to their community with goods. “
Sadina Omar Saine, the health worker at the Jinak health center spoke on the lack of health materials and how the villagers struggle to reach Banjul with their patience.
For his part, Ansumana Ceesay, People’s Power Health Representative “Said since the Gambia became independent in 1965, still we can not have basic needs in our communities. That is why, we decided to come together and help our country let’s not forget that politicians have a sweet tongue but that should not move us with our agenda to give back to our communities”.

Finally, the Chairman of the people’s power organization the Gambia Alhagie Fatty, ’’Said the people of Jinak were sidelined as if they are not part of the Gambia, all that I saw here today, is a clear manifestation of the Gambia government not paying attention to people of this beautiful Island.
All the meaningful projects in the village are established by foreigners which sounds funny, how can a village be sidelined like this. I want to take this opportunity to assure this community of our continued support in the future and urge the VDC chairman to engage the youths regarding meaningful projects that they may need to see especially skills work. He ends his remarks with a prayer for the wellbeing of the people of Jinak.”
