Under the curatorship of Somexing Art Agency, Lancôme signs a Chinese New Year first, a collaboration with the artist Jacky Tsai who reinvents the Lancôme Loong to celebrate the legendary power of the magnificent dragon, a perfect blend of East and West to create an exceptional collection- the perfect gift for this New Year.

Loong, a symbol of prosperity and vitality, is one of the twelve signs of the zodiac, the loong exists only in the imagination. Representing the power to make the impossible possible, to make vitality return. As the loong rises, it brings hope and prosperity to the land below, filling the sky with petals and creating a trail of wonders. It’s a celebration of the coming of spring, the return of vitality, all the nature comes back to the world.

Under the curatorship of Somexing Art Agency, Lancôme signs a Chinese New Year first, a collaboration with the artist Jacky Tsai who reinvents the Lancôme Loong to celebrate the legendary power of the magnificent dragon, a perfect blend of East and West to create an exceptional collection- the perfect gift for this New Year.

Carlsberg celebrates the Year of the Dragon with the collaboration of contemporary artist Ofen Hu, the fourth artist edition developed for the brand by Somexing, "Brewing Prosperity Together" (合家团圆,喜乐龙龙 ).

This New Year artist edition is elevating much-anticipated reunions with loved and dear ones whilst ushering in prosperity and smoothness for the year ahead,

The dragon is depicted as the only messenger of the Chinese New Year, with a youthful and majestic aura. Ofen Hu brought it to life by infusing it with the spirit of spring flowers in full bloom, ingrained with an ethereal essence. The Carlsberg dragon is playing with the "dragon ball", known as the "pearl of wisdom" representing the pursuit of knowledge, enlightenment, and spiritual growth. It is also seen as a symbol of prosperity and good fortune.

The overall style is a blend of classic contemporary elements and symbols, reinventing the traditional and reinterpreting a Chinese proverb which says that the fate of the year is decided in spring.

Carlsberg celebrates the Year of the Dragon with the collaboration of contemporary artist Ofen Hu, the fourth artist edition developed for the brand by Somexing Art Agency.

How and why do women represent more than 50% of all gallerists in India?

WOMAN AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP

In all the major Indian cities more than half the art galleries are currently run by women (source: IRIS). This trend can be understood by historically the joint family system that has enabled women from wealthy backgrounds to take on responsibilities of various activities of the family business, including the management of artistic assets (collections, relations, etc.). We also must consider the rise of female entrepreneurship due to India's economic growth and the increase of the number of businesses run by women.

That why two main profiles of women entrepreneurs can be identified: those who have chosen this path despite obstacles and opposition from their families, and those who have benefited from the financial support of the family business (which is often the case in contemporary art).

EXPLOSION OF CONTEMPORARY ART

The context in which the first gallery directors operated in the 1980s is very different from contemporary economic and artistic issues. The explosion of the art market from 2005 has radically transformed this activity, moving it from a local to a national and international scale.

The success of Indian contemporary art has also led to an increased professionalisation of careers, with the emergence of a new generation of gallery owners who have studied aesthetics or specialised in the art market, often abroad.
However, despite the major successes of women entrepreneurs in the field of contemporary art, the representation of women from modest, remains extremely limited. This situation highlights the challenges of social equality, despite the increasing feminisation of positions of power.

To celebrate the 70th birthday of Larsen iconic Drakkar bottle, an anniversary edition was created with the young contemporary artist Chuan Jia.
The artist was selected by Somexing for his colorful works at the frontier of abstract and figurative art. His work resulted in a bottle called Boundless Harmony. Under the artist’s brush, Larsen’s Drakkar took the form of a fantasy where abstract clouds dive in an aquatic world enhanced with details in 24 carat gold.
This edition is limited to 300 bottles and a ‘unique’ piece will be auctioned in China.

Chuan Jia is a London-Based artist who has developed a multicultural art style infused with Chinese traditional painting as well as West and East literature and culture.

Growing up in a Chinese factory compound environment, huge architecture frames and comparing small and exquisite personal living space became the key inspiration of his art. Chuan’s work combines techniques such as silkscreen print and hand drawing that thoughtfully record the detail of the changing times and of the urban communities.

For the Chinese New Year, Maison Margiela fragrances invites you into the darkroom of the photographers' collective Birdhead.
