We were there witnessing the magic of this open minded event. They go beyond the usual surf contests by pushing boundaries and proposing people a local, inclusive and social event.

Back to where it all began—Himmafushi. As our journey comes full circle, we returned to this vibrant island for the most consistent waves of our trip. Staying .guesthouse , named after the Maldivian word for ocean, made us feel even more connected to the sea. Biking around the island revealed its true beauty, offering serene moments between surf sessions. With a perfect mix of great waves and good vibes, our Surf Bliss trip couldn’t have ended on a higher note. The Maldives have truly been a paradise for surf and soul.

Back on Surf Bliss in Thulusdhoo, Maldives, where we found more than just waves. This vibrant island is full of surprises, blending a rich surf culture with a laid-back island vibe. Thanks to we were warmly welcomed, and our stay at .mv introduced us to amazing guests enjoying the island’s activities like snorkeling, fishing, and surfing. Between sessions at Cokes and Chicken, we recharged with refreshing açaí bowls, healthy food, and fresh juices at .thulusdhoo . The .mv was the perfect spot for a post-surf yoga session, adding to the island’s chill energy. And shoutout to , capturing both the waves and the awesome people around. We’ll definitely be back!

After exploring the central atolls, we headed back to North Malé to Thulusdhoo, where the waves took center stage. Home to the iconic Cokes, this island offers some of the best surf in the Maldives. The famous spot, named after the nearby Coca-Cola factory, delivered perfect rides, while the view from ’s infinity pool gave us the ideal vantage point to check the lefts at Chickens & chilled on the island & on boats for strike surf trips. Meeting local musicians on the independence days party made the experience even more special. 🙏🏼 for taking care of us.

SURF BLISS maldives / Next / We continued our journey south to Thimarafushi, another island in the central atolls. The island and its residents were incredibly welcoming. The waves were fun, offering both lefts and rights under different conditions. When the waves were smaller, we took the opportunity to dive and hunt for treasure on shipwrecks. We stayed a welcoming place to sleep eat & make surf or snorkeling trips. This place is so amazing that we almost hesitated to share it, wanting to keep it as a little secret.

After Himmafushi, we made our way south to Muli in the central atolls, just a 2-hour ferry ride from Malé. We enjoyed the waves with no one else around, only sharing the spot with the really welcoming local surfing community. Mushroom was a mellow, super fun right-hander, while F1 offered a faster ride that didn’t allow for any hesitation. We stayed at , a surf house that breathes creative surf culture, with welcoming hosts. Surfing perfect waves in crystal clear water, Muli felt like a hidden paradise.

First stop on our Maldives adventure: Himmafushi!
If you thought the Maldives was only a luxurious surf destination, you’re mistaken. Affordable accommodation options and delicious food make it accessible for everyone. After a 30-minute boat ride from the airport, we arrived on this beautiful island, home to the famous Jailbreak surf spot right in front of the prison, a perfect right-hand reef break. Other waves are just a short 15-minute boat ride away, like Sultan being one of the most consistent waves in the area and Honkeys offering an excellent world-class left-hander. The locals’ laid-back attitude complements the island’s relaxed vibe. With its crystal clear waters and steady swell, the surfing conditions are ideal. The unique backdrop also makes this place incredibly photogenic.

Mikey February, the talented Vans Surf team rider, lives a life driven by purpose and determination, both on and off his surfboard. His commitment and focus on the waves parallel the mindset he carries in his everyday life. This mindset has propelled him to become one of the world's most accomplished surfers, while still remaining the down-to-earth and approachable individual he has always been. As a hometown hero, Mikey, together with his wife, founded a non-profit organization, and he made history as the first Black African surfer to qualify for the WSL Championship Tour.
