Hey Kritikala family !
Today we are sharing the first story behind Kritikala.
Kritikala was officially born at the start of 2019 at Cape Audio College, in Cape Town, South Africa. Camille joined the DJ school and André-Hugo got into DJing at the same time. The root of the story begins in 2014, when Camille attended year after year a phenomenal event named AfrikaBurn, hosted a few hours north of Cape Town. In 2019, Camille and André-Hugo missioned to the Burn together and by the end of the year, both Camille and André-Hugo evolved their professional careers as Hydrogeologist and Civil Engineer to DJing full-time!
Afrikaburn is a community made of many artists and music passionates who get together in the Tankwa desert to connect, celebrate, explore, live sustainably, expand and wake up to their life purpose. This family grows every year with people from across the globe, often some of the most extraordinary musicians, DJs and artists. Afrikaburn has no music line-up. It's organic and authentic. The week flows and you end up following good vibration and energy through the medium of sound. In other words, the sounds that make you feel most connected and the most love inside of you will draw you to it. You'll land at a theme camp where you most probably find a DJ and magical artistic space to explore. This event is where DNA becomes notes and hearts open up.
One of Kritikala's favourite music stages at Afrikaburn to explore is called The Spirit Train. Kritikala truly became a duo on a very special night, at Afrikaburn in 2019, in front of the Spirit Train. That night, a guru DJ named Offroad played a track called Acamar by Frankey and Sandrino. A very specific sound in the song drove Camille and André-Hugo obsessed to hear it again. "Whatchaka" sparked the magic. Kritikala heard during that week 3 DJs play that song. It was a big vibe !!
Three years later, Kritikala played on The SPIRIT Train at Return To The Source music festival, starting the Train at 8pm! The set was magical!
