Lukia, Jax, Taka and Nu star in 'The job Slacker', filmed at Naboutini Serua on Saturday 15 Oct 2022. This is a good group - 4 very different styles - and i think it works. I will get them together for more of these. Luckily Lukia indistinctively moved to the right at the end of maybe he would have taken a spear in the back!!!! Forgotten to mention - surfing by Curtis Light and Jax!

My first time messing with aperture with moderate success but I think maybe it makes pictures look more in 3D (even if the wrong thing is in focus!). Love the new camera. The sound was a challenge and i need to buy a syncing app (or use the boom mic) - or have a few helpers as its a challenge being writer director sounding lighting cameraman and editor at the same time! But then again - the whole thing only took us 45min to film. [Many hours in editing but 95% due to sound syncing]

Somosomo Boardriders are supposed to do a job. But Lukia is slack and decides to go surfing, and the whole job is under threat. Filmed at Qaviu, Naboutini, S...

Ryan's World 14 made a few weeks ago. I should really post movies on this site and not my personal site - since newfossil does the movies.

The other day i was looking at 3 dimensional dragons and saw there is so much to learn in special effects - and so many possibilities - so our 'sea ghost' here are just the start and in each movie we are going to get a little more into special effects - essentially go down that rabbit hole. cant wait to check out how special effects has progressed for series in lord of the rings and game of thrones! i want my dragon too... or maybe a fijian version of a dragon

Short horror skit. The film almost entirely relies on sound effects so without sound turned on it won't make much sense. Me and my trusty 2ic lukia are into horrors and have two sort films scripted ready to shoot.

A sacred cave in Natadola, Fiji, that was inhabited more than 3,000 years ago by the Lapita people. Jay and Blair are never seen again.

A drama based story is a fluid thing of beauty. A living organism. When I started writing books – my first idea was for a plotless story (I thought I was such a rebel). A day in the life or a year in the life. As there is no firm plot in real life. I thought it was an original idea, but it certainly wasn’t! A story has to be larger than life – because a life story has to be condensed into a 300 page book or 45 minute episode.

It’s the same for filming techniques. If you look at a series on Netflix these days you have to say, Oh man, how has filming come so far in such a short time?! You can’t set up two cameras in fixed positions and film an entire dialogue. The cameras move as the story moves. There is nothing fixed. The camera angles are constantly changing. A close up to capture a single expression. Every change has a point to it. The movement can be dirty – but it sends the audience on the journey with the protagonists to discover the story. The cameras are literally chasing down the story for the audience making you feel what the main characters feel - making you want to talk to them - to advise them - making you say out loud "Don't do that!" or "Do this, you idiot!"

Also – it would be good to have one of these (pictured) – a green screen cyclorama. For special effects – but also for those days when it just pi**es down, and everyone is waiting for the rain to stop. It has to be super high stud – and wide. It is going to be a nightmare to build! And we need to find a place for it too.

I'm going to get this book out soon. (Photo). I've been sitting on it for more than a year. I like to imagine it as a movie and when I do I imagine Lukia playing the Lukia character in the story (500BC). But the kid has some training to do! We all do.

"The mind is a tricky thing, it can create a reality that is biased to your survival" - a quote I came across from the Amazon description of Tulia Nacola's new book "the brown dress" [available on Amazon].

Ever since I saw that quote - it attached itself to the inside wall of my brain! Poor brain! Are we all fooling ourselves, every day, every minute? Or are we the only ones that aren't in a sea of people who are?

Isn't it ironical that each of us thinks we are the only sane one drowning in a sea of insanity? There is so much beautiful irony in this world. And irony is best served in a book.

Thanks to the team at Fiji Made! Books are great fun to write and film/series scripts are a newer challenge that is taking a lot of my time these last few weeks - as we slowly but surely head into the unknown. I need to get my new book out though. definitely by end of the month - but i think ive said by the end of the month before !
