Africa’s fastest woman Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith will seek a change of strategy from her coach following her second-place finish in the 100m at the Stockholm Diamond League on Sunday.
Ta Lou-Smith headed to Stockholm after featuring in the Oslo Diamond League, where she run the 200m and also finished second, but her time on Sunday was slower than the one she recorded in the 100m in Eugene last month, when she finished sixth.
The former African champion clocked 11.16 to finish behind African Games 100m and 200m champion Gina Mariam Bass Bittaye from the Gambia, who won the race in 11.15, with Britain’s Brittany Brown, who beat her in Oslo, completing the podium in 11.18.

EIGHT YEARS HAVE GONE BY AND WE ARE STILL LONGING FOR JUSTICE FOR THE VICTIMS OF APRL 14th & 16th OF 2016.
By Lamin Saddam Sanyang,
The Netherlands.
14th and 16th April, 2016 were two other dark days in the history of our country. On those fateful days, some patriotic Gambians peacefully descended in the streets to exercise their civil, democratic and constitutional God-given rights, as stated in section 25 of the 1997 Constitution.
25. FREEDOM OF SPEECH, CONSCIENCE, ASSEMBLY, ASSOCIATION AND MOVEMENT.
(1) Every person shall have the right to:
(a) freedom of speech and expression, which include freedom of the press and other media;
(b) freedom of thought, conscience and belief, which shall include academic freedom;
(c) freedom to practice any religion and to manifest such practice; and
(d) freedom to assemble and demonstrate peaceably and without arms.
The patriotic Gambians who merely exercised their above-mentioned rights, were brutally attacked by the monkies in uniform calling themselves service men & women. The rights of those Gambians were denied and they were forcefully arrested, tortured and murdered. Ebrima Solo Sandeng was indeed murdered in cold blood and buried like a dog.
Our party leader, H.E. ALH. Ousainou A.N.M. Darboe was informed that Ebrima Solo Sandeng was murdered and people like Fatou Camara, Fatoumatta Jawara and co. were detained, tortured and were in very critical conditions. He decided to go out on the 16th of April 2016 with the Executives of the United Democratic Party to ask the government to give them Ebrima Solo Sandeng, dead or alive.
They too were brutally apprehended and incarcerated. From that point on, the Gambians decided that enough was enough. They stood up against Yaya Jammeh and finally brought him down. Adama Barrow became the beneficiary of the revolt of the Gambians. The rest, as we say, is history.
A few years down the line, the TRRC was set up to probe the atrocities and other criminal acts of the Jammeh regime. After millions of tax-payer money and considerable financial resources provided by our development partners, were spent on the T.R.R.C., our hope of seeing justice finally taking its course was raised very high. The T.R.R.C. did a tremendous job and submitted its recommendations to President Barrow. To our dismay and anger, our hopes were dashed again. President Barrow, owing to inferioriy complex, self centeredness, greediness and lack of uprightness, betrayed the victims and the Gambians. Indeed, the victims still haven't had the justice they deserve. Likewise, the Gambians are still waiting for justice to take its course and be served.
The worst part of the whole situation is that the victims are dying one by one from the lingering effects of the atrocities they suffered at the hands of the Jammeh henchmen and "disservice" men and women. Some are still lying on their sick beds and others, maimed for the rest of their lives, are suffering in silence, while the beneficiary of their sacrifice, Adama Barrow, continues to ignore them. In the same vein, the perpetrators of the heinous crimes and atrocities meted out to the Jammeh victims, now dine and wine with Barrow and his surrogates. Day and night, they are enjoying life on the streets of The Gambia, and chilling out with those who should stand up for justice and the victims, because they owe their current positions to the sacrifice of the victims.
The only two questions am asking here are:
1. When will justice be served for the victims?
2. When will the perpetrators face justice?
May the endless blessing and mercy of Allah SWT continue to be showered upon the souls of those victims who passed away. We implore The Almighty to grant speedy recovery to those victims still alive but in pain and sick. May The Good Lord afford them the strength to continue fighting for their lives. May they win those battles and may justice prevail for them, while they are still alive. Ameen ya Rabbie JazakoumAllah Khairan.
