The co-founder of Glomama Music, Anna Dantchev, has been selected for a management training in MOST -Bridge for Balkan Music project.

"Over the years all those moments where music and culture brought people together, and have created a unique space for connection, those moments have had an impact on my own desire to be part of the system that creates and facilitates those moments.”

We asked manager training winners to show the colours of MOST.

Here's Anna Dantchev, a singer, composer, and co-founder of the label Glomama Music. Though she lives in Helsinki, she has a strong connection to Bulgarian culture and cultural sector through her family, which shows up in her work.


What festival or show surprised you the most?
Some years ago I attended the concert of Goran Bregović at Helsinki Festival. It was a magical moment when the whole tent started to dance together Balkan chain dances during the concert. Another show that I remember always is last year's Etnosoi! festival concert in Helsinki with Monika Lakatos and the Gipsy Voices, where Monika's unaccompanied solo song brought tears to the audience eyes – her voice touched the audience heart so deeply that no common words was needed. It's not only big shows in big festivals that can be surprising or memorable - when a local vocal group for example in Etropole (Bulgaria) performs to the local audience the moment and the common space are just perfect.


Name a local and an international artist who you would like to befriend.
Local (Balkan) artist I would like to befriend with is Amira Medunjanin International artist I would like to meet is Calypso Rose.


When did you realize you want to do cultural management?
I cannot point out one singular moment or event that would have effected on my desire to work in this business. Probably over the years all those moments and events where music and culture have brought people together and have created a unique space for everyone to be connected with each other, those moments have had an impact on my own desire to be part of the system that creates and facilitates those moments.
In cultural management the story is not only about the logistics and budgets and PR, it's about people who are working for the same goals. That fascinates me. The goal is to create those moments where people feel connected.

DANTCHEV DOMAIN is one of the 96 artists from 14 countries that were selected to the first edition of Global Music Match

The project has started and it will last for many weeks more. DANTCHEV:DOMAIN will be in the spotlight starting from November 5th

We are so exited to be part of Global Music Match! It is an international project that brings 96 artists from different countries together. Artists were selected by 14 music export organisations and they are involved from Australia, Brittany in France, Canada, Catalonia in Spain, England, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Puglia in Italy, Scotland, Taiwan, The USA and Wales.

The artists have been divided into smaller teams, and we are happy to be team members with The Shackleton Trio (England), Cätlin Mägi (Estonia), Brek Band (Iceland), GKN5 (Norway) and Korason (Wales).

Over the next 6 weeks we'll be introducing you these bands in our team. We have a chat with each and everyone of them, talk about music and world.

We are proud to be representing DANTCHEV:DOMAIN, a quintet from Helsinki, Finland, with great experimental desire and rich instrumentation, especially on the blowing side. The singing is a great combination of Bulgarian ethno techniques, folk sensitivity, jazz nuances and a sense of blues. The dark-toned voice is very strong and expressive.
