“Perceptions of first-year university students toward artificial intelligence: awareness, attitude, and trust”
🤖🎓 This study explores how first-year university students perceive Artificial Intelligence (AI), examining their levels of awareness, attitudes, and trust in these emerging technologies within an educational context.
✅ Most students report a basic (28.93%) or intermediate (39.62%) understanding of AI and its social implications.
✅ Attitudes toward AI are generally positive, with 40.37% of students expressing approval of AI and its applications.
✅ However, a significant proportion (45.34%) adopt a neutral stance, suggesting uncertainty or ambivalence about its impact.
✅ The findings highlight the need to strengthen AI literacy from the early years of higher education.
⚠️ The lack of solid foundational training may limit the development of informed and critical trust in the use of AI in academic and professional contexts.
🧩 A key contribution to understanding how students begin to engage with artificial intelligence and the educational challenges this poses for higher education.
