Picture this: It’s the swinging 60s in Mallorca. The island is booming with new tourism, and at Playa de Palma, something truly unique catches the eye—not just sunbathers and beach bars, but camels and dromedaries strolling along the shore!

Back then, a beach day wasn’t just about sun and sea; it was about adventure! Tourists could ride these majestic creatures right on the sand, feeling like desert explorers under the Mediterranean sun. The slower, towering camels with their two humps, and the elegant, one-humped dromedaries—each offering a ride as unforgettable as the era itself.

It was a time of discovery, when Mallorca was transforming into a dream destination, full of surprises and one-of-a-kind experiences. Over time, the camels and dromedaries faded into memory, replaced by beach loungers, party beats, and luxury resorts. But the stories live on… and maybe, just maybe, if you listen closely to the waves, you can still hear the soft steps of a dromedary in the sand.

🌟 New Name for the Promenade at Playa de Palma! 🌟How should the famous promenade at Playa de Palma be called in the future? Write a comment ✍️

The local business association Palma Beach, led by CEO Mika Ferrer, has proposed renaming the Carretera del Arenal to "Passeig de s’Arenal."

This proposal was officially presented to Palma’s mayor, Jaime Martínez, and tourism councilor, Javier Bonet, on February 13, 2025. The goal? To reshape Playa de Palma’s image—moving away from its party reputation and transforming it into a premium, sustainable travel destination.

With a new name, business leaders hope to make the area more attractive for high-quality tourism and reduce seasonal dependency—making Playa de Palma a year-round hotspot. The city officials have welcomed the initiative, considering it an important step in their urban and tourism development strategy.
