Sueños luminosos, oscuros, bellos, lejanos, oníricos, surrealistas, reales. Desde niño supo que quería dedicarse al arte, aunque en su casa le dijeron que eso no le iba a dar de comer. Hoy este enamorado de la música, su otra gran pasión, firma sus ilustraciones como Space Rocket (Cohete Espacial), a la espera de dar forma al gran sueño de su vida.

DREAMS COME TRUE. There are people who leave a mark on you. But in the case of Sergi Ribot (Palma, 1993), it is his dreams that have made a mark on him. Ever since he was a child he knew he wanted to dedicate himself to art, although his family told him he wouldn’t be able to earn a living with it. EL ARTISTA MONUMENTAL. Conocí a Santiago Picatoste (Palma, 1971) en su casa–estudio de Madrid el año 2000, durante una entrevista que le hice para la sección de Cultura del diario Última Hora. Aquella tarde él quedó prendado de mi novia de entonces, y yo le hice una serie de preguntas rutinarias porque sólo tenía ganas de volver pronto a mi casa a escribir poesías. Pensé que no nos volveríamos a ver más después de aquel primer encuentro. Pero pocas semanas más tarde empezamos a forjar una amistad de esas que valen una vida. Pasó mi novia de entonces y pasaron las poesías. Pero Santi sigue siendo hoy mi amigo y mi hermano. Una persona y un artista monumentales que ha alcanzado la plenitud en todos los aspectos de su vida. Y sigue creciendo. (Iván Terrasa, Editor de IN PALMA)

THE MONUMENTAL ARTIST. I met Santiago Picatoste (Palma, 1971) at his studio/home in Madrid in the year 2000, when I interviewed him for the culture section of the newspaper Última Hora. That afternoon he was captivated by my girlfriend at the time, and I asked him a series of routine questions because all I wanted to do was get home quickly and carry on writing poems. I assumed we would never meet again after that first encounter. But a few weeks later we began to forge one of those valuable lifelong friendships. My then-girlfriend is a thing of the past, and so are my poems. But today, Santi is still my friend, my brother. A monumental artist and person who has achieved fulfilment in all the aspects of his life. And he continues to grow. (Iván Terrasa, Editor of IN PALMA)

EL JARDINERO QUE FUE AL CIELO. El 2 de abril de 2015 falleció Bert, el padre de Gary Bunt (East Peckham, Inglaterra, 1957). Al día siguiente Gary dibujó una escalera que ascendía al cielo y a su padre subiendo por ella, bajo la atenta mirada de su perro, su fiel compañero en vida. Nueve años después, aquel dibujo ha dado lugar a una serie de cuadros y poemas titulada “El Jardinero que fue al cielo”. Una oda al hombre corriente llena de belleza y esperanza.

THE GARDENER WHO WENT TO HEAVEN. On 2 April 2015 Bert, the father of Gary Bunt (East Peckham, England, 1957) passed away. The next day Gary drew a stairway that led up to heaven with his father going up it, under the watchful gaze of his dog, his faithful companion in life. Nine years later, that drawing has given rise to a series of paintings and poems entitled “The Gardener Who Went To Heaven”. An ode to the ordinary man, full of beauty and hope.

Am Tag danach zeichnete Gary ihn, auf einer Treppe, die in den Himmel führte, mit dem Blick auf seinen Hund gerichtet, seinem treuen Lebensgefährten. JISU SOLTÓ UN GLOBO Y FARES SE COMIÓ EL MUNDO. Un día Fares Micue (Lanzarote, 1987) estaba realizando una sesión de fotos en su estudio. De pronto un globo con el que jugaba su hijo Jisu, de 2 años, se coló en medio del encuadre de la cámara. „Qué bonito“, pensó Fares al ver el resultado. Así fue como empezó su historia fuera de lo común.

JISU RELEASED A BALLOON AND FARES CONQUERED THE WORLD. One fine day Fares Micue (Lanzarote, 1987) was conducting a photo session in her studio.
