Life Stories with Ian Rutter

Sadly, for the time being, I have decided to stop publishing the 'Life Stories with Ian Rutter' podcast.

Running a podcast that includes music incurs licensing costs, and without support from patrons, it becomes nothing more than a labour of love, and a labour of love that I can ill afford right now. Maintaining a list of interesting guests is also extremely time-consuming, and I needed a break.

Thank you so much to all my past guests - you have been fascinating, and many of you have become good friends. One day, in the not too distant future, 'Life Stories' may re-emerge, but in a slightly different guise.

I cannot believe that it was in April when I last uploaded an episode of 'Life Stories'. Sadly, as we all know, the wretched Covid-19 pandemic rather got in the way, and April and May were not good months for me. I had to take the decision to take a break from producing and presenting Life Stories for a while.

We have been busy with other projects over the summer, and I haven't yet quite decided what the future holds for 'Life Stories'. It may come back, or I may decide to change the direction of the podcast slightly, but I will let you know what I decide to do. In the meantime, thank you for listening and the most recent two episodes are now live!

Sarah Donohue has enjoyed over 25 years competing as a powerboat racer and is currently the most successful female competitor in the sport. As well as racing, Sarah is a qualified personal trainer, international Tri-Fitness champion and created and ran the annual Miss Galaxy Universe fitness competitions.

In June 2018, Sarah published her first book, The World is Never Enough in which she recounts her own exploits as a racer, a powerboat stuntwoman on the James Bond movie, ‘The World is Not Enough’ and her near-fatal accident during one of the races.

A small appeal!

So far, the 'Life Stories with Ian Rutter' podcast has achieved almost 3,000 listens, and we are approaching an average 100 listens per week. There are now 50 episodes on the podcast, with more being added constantly.

The podcast is licensed with SGAE (Sociedad General Autores y Editores) so that I can include music selections and the performers’ rights are protected. There is a fee associated with the license, and I am therefore generating funds to cover these costs.

If you enjoy listening to Life Stories, could I ask you to consider supporting the podcast in a small way. I have set up supporter tiers on my Patreon account, starting from as little as $5 per month (4,54€ or £3.98). The ‘Life Stories with Ian Rutter’ podcast is licensed by the Spanish performing rights organisation, SGAE. This incurs costs and so I am appealing for support to allow ongoing production of the weekly shows to cover these licensing fees.
