🍿 The NEPA and the Movie Night
One evening, me and my cousins decided to have a movie night for the big game. You know, the kind where we'd all be glued to the screen, shouting at the players like they could hear us. Only problem was, we didn't want to spend all our change on cinema popcorn because, abeg, who needs that kind of stress?
So, we planned to do it at my place. We brought out the big generator - the one we call "The Beast" - because we knew NEPA would play their usual hide and seek with the power. We popped corn, set up the screen, and got everything ready for the match.
Just as the game was about to start, NEPA decided to join the party and give us light. We were like, "Ah, thank God!" and switched off the generator.
But, as if they knew we wanted to enjoy the match, NEPA took the light back almost immediately.
Now, we were back to "The Beast," but guess what? The generator chose that exact moment to start misbehaving! It was coughing and wheezing like an old man with catarrh. We tried everything - shaking it, sweet-talking it, and even threatening to take it for repairs - but "The Beast" was not having it.
With the game already kicking off, we were sweating, not just from the heat but from the panic.
One of my cousins, in his frustration, decided to do what Nigerians do best when technology fails - he gave the generator a good knock. And just like that, "The Beast" roared back to life!
We cheered louder for that generator than for any goal scored that night. But the drama wasn't over yet. Every few minutes, the light would come back, and we'd quickly switch off the generator, only for NEPA to leave us in the dark again. It became a ritual; we'd shout, "NEPA don bring light o!" followed by "E don go again!"
In the end, we watched the match in this chaotic dance with power, but it was one of the funniest nights. We laughed so much, even when our team lost. And the popcorn? Well, it was the star of the show, shared among us like we were in a cinema, but in the comfort of home, with all the drama NEPA could provide.
So, the next time you're planning to watch a game or movie, remember, it's not just about the screen; it's about the experience, the laughter, and maybe, just maybe, a good knock on the generator.
