Barcelona based independent reggae label, it was originally conceived as a radio show under the name of Reggaeland FM in 1993, it eventually became a recording label in 2004 and was renamed Reggaeland. Productions started out in Jamaica and involved Spanish vocal artists Nano Bravo, Queen Smiley and Supa Bassie, recorded over Jamaican riddims with producers Bobby Digital and Black Scorpio and eventually released as 7”. It was in 2009 that the label begun to publish albums with upcoming Spanish artists, who voiced Reggaeland original riddims. Jah Nattoh 'En Buenas Manos' was the first official release, followed by Miguel Arraigo 'La Esencia Vital' and shortly after by Maia 'La Llamada'. The story moved forward in 2011, when the label released 'Cultura Accidental' by Catalan reggae band Txilum, and the first one riddim album 'Dem Talking riddim' featuring both Spanish and Jamaican artists. Reggaeland released a collection of riddims over the following years, the second one by the end of 2011 called 'Reggae Reasoning Riddim'. Eager to rescue the original Reggae values and to promote conscious productions with a universal message, Reggaeland decided to widen its focus to include new generations of Jamaican upcoming artists with the aim to help establish a new breed of conscious Reggae artists. In 2012 the label released the very successful 'Cultura Riddim', 'Hold Di Trinity' riddim and the single ‘Waistline’ by Mojo Morgan and then moved on with full-length albums by Malijah ('Dancin' Shoes'), Chantelle Ernandez ('Gimme What's Mine' - debut album), Singer Jah ( 'Warrior of Jah Army') and Anthony Que ('No Fear No Man'). All of these were presented and accepted for Grammy nominations under the category ‘Best Reggae Album’ and were nominated in charts worldwide, slowly building a noteworthy visibility for the label.
2013 started with a series of one-riddim projects and singles ‘Da Gong Riddim’, ‘High On Love Riddim’ and ‘The Change Riddim’, which were generally very well received. In December Reggaeland released ‘Hailelujah Song’ by Mikey General, which immediately grabbed the international attention. A full Jahmali album followed and more recently Wayne Daniel. With official acknowledgements as label not only in Spain, but also in Jamaica, UK, Italy, Germany, Holland, Belgium, USA, and Mexico, Reggaeland has currently taken a break from releases to focus on studio work.
