🏆Winner of the 2nd Prize in the 1st International Composition Competition for Women “Mª Teresa Prieto”, this work pays tribute to the pioneering women who worked in the Nalón mines 👏. The music portrays both the hardship of their labor and the strength and dignity that characterized them.

🎼Between the metallic sound of the mine and a folk-inspired theme, Las Carboneras del Nalón (The Coal Miners of the Nalón) moves you with its humanity and depth.

📢We present to you Miguel Angel Berbis, composer, teacher, and researcher.

👉A restless creator and explorer of new languages, he is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Spanish music. His work focuses on research and sound experimentation, with an open mind towards new technologies applied to musical creation.

🎼In addition to his work as a composer, Berbis is actively involved in teaching and research, giving classes at the Castellón Higher Conservatory and directing the Ensemble d’Arts and the RafelFestival.

We are excited to announce that the participating groups in the Second Section of the 2026 “Ciudad de Valencia” International Wind Band Competition will perform Leyendas del Bosque, by composer Enrique Cárcel Villalba, published by Tot per l’Aire, as a compulsory piece.

This fascinating score invites us to explore a forest full of life, mystery, and magic through its three movements:

Nos emociona anunciar que las agrupaciones participantes en la Sección Segunda del Certamen Internacional de Bandas de Música “Ciudad de Valencia” 2026 interpretarán como obra obligatoria Leyendas del Bosque, del compositor Enrique Cárcel Villalba, publicada por Tot per l’Aire.

Esta fascinante partitura nos invita a recorrer un bosque lleno de vida, misterio y magia a través de sus tres movimientos:

🍃 1.º “El despertar de las almas” – Un inicio lleno de atmósfera y equilibrio sonoro, que representa el amanecer en un bosque misterioso pero vibrante.
🧚 2.º “Criaturas fantásticas” – Ligero, ágil y lleno de contrastes; un desfile musical de seres extraños que habitan entre los árboles.
🏰 3.º “El reino oculto” – De lo expresivo a lo majestuoso, culminando en el descubrimiento de una civilización secreta que habita en las profundidades del bosque.

Una obra repleta de color, texturas y narración musical, que pondrá a prueba la expresividad y la técnica de cada banda.
