This is one of the potential cover design concepts we worked on for Valentina Goncharova's 'OCEAN' 2xLP release back in 2022. 💫

We want to share a series of posts to shed light on the release preparation process and showcase some of the design options from our releases that didn't make the final cut. Design and layout work is always one of the most entertaining yet challenging parts of preparing a vinyl release. It requires a special balance and patience to align and satisfy all involved parties (including the artist, label, and collaborative artists) with the visual representation of the release.

'OCEAN' was one of our most challenging and demanding projects, taking over 2 years of preparation from all directions. We had around 20 different options for the front and back covers for 'OCEAN', some of which involved deeper work, while others remained as sketches.

Here, we display one of the more advanced options created by and , which was eventually rejected by the artist but is still worth sharing with the wider public.

We dream of one day publishing a small booklet with all the potential covers that Hidden Harmony releases could have had but didn't. There are so many aesthetically beautiful options and ideas worth being seen.
Hope to present such a collection of design sketches with you one day. ✨️

Hidden Harmony Recordings proudly presents Valentina Goncharova's new LP, "Campanelli", recorded in Tallinn, Estonia during 2023 and 2024. 💫

This limited edition release of 400 numbered copies features 12" 200-gram black vinyl records, 33RPM, housed in poly-lined inner sleeves, and thick old-style tip-on hard cardboard outer sleeves.

Valentina's work encapsulates a unique blend of innovation and tradition, providing audiences with an enthralling exploration of the vast possibilities within musical expression. Drawing upon her compositional skills honed during her academic studies, she expertly manipulates the violin, seamlessly integrating it with synthesizers and drum machines. The result is a mesmerizing fusion of organic and electronic elements characterized by slow, pulsating drone soundscapes.

Was a special moment for us to see John Maus performing live yesterday 09.Nov.2024 in Vilnius

Experience of a pure, unrefined energy shared by John with the audience 🔥

John Maus music, philosophy, and aesthetics have been inspirational to me over the years and helped to go through up and downs during various periods of my life and motivated me to pursue a dream of launching a record label, which in the end materialized in a form of Hidden Harmony.

And it was a great moment and a special feeling to be able to thank John in person for all this.
John is truly a humble person. In Maus, we trust ✊️

Part of my record collection is still in Tallinn, packed in boxes after multiple relocations, John Maus LPs among it - awaiting a re-union with the rest of the records.
So i have picked up another seminal and important LP (Hype Willams) and asked John to sign it. John did not mind.

Hidden Harmony is proud to present our next release, the first full-length LP from Estonian composer and keyboardist Volodja Brodsky. ☀️

The six compositions on ‘Whispering Ln’ were entirely recorded during Brodsky's trip to the USA in 2018-2019 and showcased his passion for the transformative power of minimalism as an art form. The follow-up to his keyboard duties on psych funk/rare groove Estonian outfits Estrada Orchestra, Centre El Muusa, Misha Panfilov Septet, on ‘Whispering Ln’ Brodsky reinventing himself as a minimalism evangelist in his own right.

LP was co-produced by a renown composer and multi-instrumentalist and mastered by Estonian sound engineering wizard Jörgen Hermaste with LP cover stellar design coming from under the had of ✨️

From space age pop shimmering sonatas to the monolithic drone/overtone hypnotics, Brodsky created an ascetic yet complex sonic landscape where less is more.💆‍♂️

Releases 18th July, under catalogue number HH10,
Edition of 250 hand-numbered copies.
