Celebrating 18 years
18 years ago, creation of the dream to ‘live a Lucky Life’ began with the first of many gatherings, bringing people together from across the globe, in celebration of life, music, sunshine, friendship and the shared dream for freedom.

What did you create ?
Lucky Life events, TV, Radio, Music, Travel, boat parties, themed events, club nights, tours, Ibiza YouTube series, interviews, festival films, DJ documentaries, cooking shows, concierge service, Ibiza guide,, weddings, birthdays, house parties, stag and hens dos, charity events, dinner parties, celebrations of every shape and form, DJs, live music, radio show, record label, Live Stream sets, photoshoots, retreats and more

Who did you co-create it with?

SO MANY FRIENDS, FAMILY and LOVES. Thank you, each and every one of you.

How did you create it?

An insane amount of hours, pushing myself near to the limit, studying, learning from the greats, inspiration, always learning new skills, recreating, refining, never ever giving up, investment, borrowing more than I knew how to handle, faking it until I was making it, keeping my side hustle, never burning bridges, blagging when needed, keeping the smile alive, even when there was a tear inside, giving others the freedom to create their way while adding to the evolution of the project.

What was it like?
Exciting, invigorating, challenging, testing, uplifting, costly, worth it, full of sacrifice, full of joy, full of friendship, full of love, longer than I expected, harder than I imagined, confusing, twisting, transformational, educational, satisfying, painful, scary, ecstatic, incredible, heart warming.

Why did you do it?
To prove that it is possible to do what we love, love what we do, and make a good living doing just that…

Did it work?
Yes, and somehow, it feels like i’ve only just begun.

Would you do it all again?
100%

What would you do differently?
Less self sacrifice, more self love. Up-skill before upscale, use what I have and nothing more.
Slow down, enjoy the process, stay true to my truth, allow, learn from and honour my failures, believe in myself even more.

Around the magic ⛰️

This year I swam over 180km, completely solo, in the Ibiza sea and ended off the swimming summer in a competition last Sunday with around 70 other swimmers.

Swimming a 10km route from Cala d hort, around Es Vedra & Es Vedranell, and back to the beach with a maximum of 4 hours to complete the challenge.

Having only swam solo for the last 6 years, I had no idea where I would find my place in a race, and no idea what level of swimmers I was joining, so I went in with the idea that if I find myself somewhere in the middle, I’d have a fun splash with the rest, but if I was somewhere up ahead, I’d have a solid shot at winning…
However, within the first 2km, I was beautifully humbled as I watched the majority of these incredible athletes motor off into the distance in front of me.

With less than a handful left swimming behind me, the magical Es Vedra up ahead, the sun shining bright on the crystal clear waters on a day of perfect conditions for an end of summer swim, it became like almost any of my other solo swims, except this time, I didn’t take anything to film along the way, and so I truly enjoyed the amazing experience of swimming around the magical island of Es Vedra as my way to salute the summer of swimming.

As for the competition, wow, those at the top of their game are incredibly fast, the winner coming in at under 2.5 hrs. I’m happy to say I topped my usual times by far & came in just under 3.5 hours, a good 5 min per km faster than I averaged on my island swim.

Big thanks to my sweet Maria for her encouragement, understanding & increasing support of my crazy swims this summer, and thanks to the Ibiza Blue Challenge team for organising this epic event, to my friends that joined for the celebration lunch and my loving family for the wishes from afar.

Return from Russia …

Lets Connect ...

As I swapped a major birthday celebration for a solo swim this summer, I haven't yet had a moment to gather with friends to celebrate, the swim, my birthday, or the sweetness of the Ibiza season. So, next Tuesday, if you're in Ibiza, please join me for a well needed summer reunion down on the sunset strip.

I'm hosting the first private Eat Sleep Rave Retreat so our tour guests will be joining us for this as their Pacha pre party, along with one of their crew, CHASE aka Chase - DJ, Events playing his birthday set on the night.

We'll be in from early to catch the balearic beats with resident DJ Ken Fan then joined by our label artists after sunset Ben Fhurst Rufus White and Trevor O'Neil.

Swimming into my 40’s

Over the past 21 days, to welcome myself into the next decade of life, rather than hosting my usual mid summer celebration, this year, I chose to complete a project which I have been preparing, training for and dreaming of for the last 6 years… a solo swim around the island of Ibiza.

Starting out on the 1st of August with a 9km swim from Talamanca to Cala Llonga, I continued almost every day, where life, work and times allowed, swimming 2 to 7 hours at a time, covering between 3 to 15km per day, a total of around 120km. Each day, I drove to the starting point, swam solo, just me in the deep blue sea with a bright orange dry bag acting as a protective buoy, also carrying my supplies for the day. And then, at the end of each swim, I either met my lady Maria for a sunset dinner and a ride back to my car, or walked and hitch hiked my way back.

This has been a deeply empowering, introspective and liberating experience, full of turbulent challenges and peaceful bliss, both in and out of the water. A test of complete autonomy and trust in nature while proving what’s possible when we put our heart and mind into something, removing the fears and doubts of others.

I am happy to share that yesterday I completed the swim, stronger and happier than I started it, and I feel this has set the tone for how my I shall end this decade too.

After arranging an official charity swim in 2017 with 10 South African swimmers making an epic attempt to complete the 120km route around Ibiza in just 4 days, falling short only 20km due to time constraints, I am truly stoked, proud and grateful to have finally completed this mission. This is definitely not the last time I swim around an island, that’s for sure.

A big thanks to the jellyfish of ibiza for being kind to me by gifting only two gentle kisses the whole route, to my friends for chipping in to buy me a GoPro for my birthday so future swims can be better documented, to captain Gee Atlantis Boat Solutions and Marek for your support on the final day to help me cross the Ibiza Port in safety, to Julie for gifting me my first dry bag and sharing tips and techniques when I first began training, to the Madswimmer’s for inspiring me to dive to greater depths, in the sea and in me, to the boat and Jetski captains around the island for keeping an eye out and catching my signals when they got to close, to the spirit of Ibiza and the sea for keeping me safe, guided and protected, and to my dear Maria for challenging, supporting, and loving me as you chose to throughout this adventure, learning, tasting and experiencing life together throughout the process.

I documented the swim with some clips on my phone in a protective case, (which sadly became ‘unprotective’ on day 17 as I swam by Es Vedra), so sometime, when I have time, I’ll put together a short film to share with you all about my experience swimming solo around the island I love so much.

Next up, 11 Rave Retreaters arrive from Australia on the 2nd of September and I’ll be hosting a very different, but equally exciting, adventure around the island of dreams.

The celebration begins

I’ve had the honour of arranging my very good friend Dien Madigwane's ibiza birthday festivities, and to kick things off, we’ll be doing a taking over at Café del Mar Ibiza this Saturday. Come down & join us for a salute to the sun.

A reunion of note awaits us with over 60 friends flying in from all around the world for this celebration of Dean & what a way to begin with this sunset welcome party on the sunset strip of San Antonio, where many of these friendships were made & strengthened some 15 years ago on the legendary Ibizan Heat Tours.

Big thanks to Resident DJ Ken Fan and the Cafe del Mar family for having us. Very excited to be there on Saturday night with you all.

Surrender to the Sound

At the end of 2022 I was blessed to be part of the creation of a new project which we have been sharing in small and intimate groups in our warm and cosy living room for the last 8 months. In this project, we explore the power & divinity of the sound & vibration of the ancient gong, accompanied by a range of shamanic instruments from different cultures around the world, to explore what happens when we, and our guests, surrender completely to the sound as we journey within. The experiences have been deep, intense and transformational, for each of us involved in the creation of the sounds, as well as for our friends attending and receiving in this closed eye process.

This Friday, 14 July 2023, we venture to the outdoors as we open the possibility for more guests to share in this experience with us, so last month, I took the opportunity to capture the essence of the project, to share a little more about our story.

The best thing about my birthdays are without a doubt the close connection & collection of so many wonderful, friendly, smiling, happy people & I am so looking forward to bringing together another gathering of some of my nearest & dearest this Thursday.

𝐴𝑛𝑑 𝐵𝑅𝐸𝐴𝑇𝐻．．．

One of my greatest learnings in life, especially my Ibiza life, is getting the balance right.

Unique to each of us, we all have our own balance, and so, as someone who loves experiencing life on the extreme edges of reality, as we enter into the third month of the most intense summer I have experienced in years, I give thanks for the side of the extremities I have chosen to live on for this Ibiza summer…

I’ll expand on my story, choices, experiences & learnings from this all in time, but as I stop to take this breath, with so many videos, travel clients, requests, weddings, friends, old & new, events, parties & incredible experiences already come & gone, I invite & encourage each of you, Ibiza residents, workers & visitors, to find your balance.

Stop & breath, take a moment to give thanks in appreciation of the incredible lives we are so blessed to be living, sharing & celebrating on this one of a kind island of unlimited adventures.

We are so blessed. Please take care my friends. Remember to breath in this fresh island air, to swim in our beautiful sea, to eat well with foods from the land, to dance when the beat touches your heart, and to rest your mind body & soul when the moment allows.

Only ‘Sweet 16’

When I was considering the theme for this years celebration of our return to the dancefloor, a decade +2 based in Ibiza & 16 years of Lucky Life, I chose to honour a year that teenagers celebrate yet businesses & brands let slip by unnoticed; the ripe young age of ‘Sweet 16’.

One may think, wow, 16 years with a business, 16 years building a brand, 16 years learning many different skills of the trade & rules of the game … it sounds like a ‘long time’ … like the business was old, long in the game, like we should surely be at the top of the ranks, secure, established, perfectly defined.

But then I took a trip down memory lane to when I turned ‘Sweet 16’ to remember the boy that I was back then, thinking I was a man. This helped me to remember just how young I really was back then, just how much I STILL had to learn, fall, grow, study, ask, change, adapt, refine, perfect & master before life could get anything close to what I was dreaming of at that time.

This has also helped me realise just how young Lucky Life still is & that’s exciting, because if the decades ahead in business are anywhere near as incredible as the decades in life that followed my sweet 16th, then watch this space, get your tickets, subscribe now & join the party, cause I can honestly say, ‘baby, we’ve only just begun’

And just like the teenager you see in this photo was already eagerly driven, passionately excited, curiously experimental and on an unstoppable mission to make his dreams come true, so too is the Lucky Life brand a powerful entity that is eagerly driven, passionately excited, curiously experimental & on an unstoppable mission to make YOUR dreams come true.

Whether that’s through connecting, communicating, collaborating & co-creating art, music & media with us, touring, traveling & celebrating life with us or being entertained, educated & inspired with us, I’m excited to say, dear Lucky Ones, the best is yet to come & I’m so excited to continue sharing this journey and my story with you, both personal and professional, as publicly as I do.

Over the last 6 years, I’ve progressed forwards in a direction that may seem backwards for people in production. From having a full team of film makers & content creators under my direction for years, in 2015 I slowly but surely began learning each step of the trades, from filming, editing & music production to social media, marketing & recently, even website building, as I broaden my skills in the various areas of services which the Lucky Life Brand offers.

This year, I’ve chosen to add my old love of photography to the resume … and where better a place to learn than Ibiza?! An island blessed with so much beauty to capture. From the beaches & the sea, sunrises & sunsets, the party scene with lights & lasers, and of course, the beautiful people that I share this magical island with.
