- The Eastern Regional Dire
ctorate, based in Constantine, it covers the provinces of Constantine, Batna, Annaba, Skikda, Jijel, Oum El Bouaghi, Tebessa, Souk Ahras, El Tarf, Mila, Khenchela, Biskra, Guelma, Setif , M’sila and Bordj Bou Arreridj.
- The Western Regional Directorate, based in Oran, it covers the provinces of Oran, Tlemcen, Saida, Sidi Bel Abbes, Mostaganem, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Ain Temouchent, Relizane, Mascara and Chlef.
- The Southern Regional Directorate, based in Ouargla, it covers the provinces of Ouargla, Adrar, Tamanrasset, Illizi, Tindouf, Naama, Laghouat, Bechar, Ghardaia, El Oued and El Bayadh.
- The Central Regional Management, based in Blida, it covers the provinces of Blida, Tipaza, Boumerdes, Tizi-Ouzou, Bejaia, Bouira, Djelfa, Ain Defla, Medea. At the agency’s central editorial office, the news is collected by 12 editorial staffs: politics, society, culture, sports, regions, investigations and reporting, business, data banks, international desk, translation, and Internet departments. In November 1998, APS launched its broadcast via satellite, which helped the agency diversify its services range. APS, Algeria’s News Agency was created on 1 December 1961 in Tunis, during the national liberation war to be the flagship of the Algerian Revolution on the global media scene. After independence, its headquarters was naturally transferred to Algiers. Transformed on 20 April 1991 into EPIC (Public Company with Economic and Commercial Aspect), APS "exercises its public service mission by developing the production of general and specialized news covering politics, economy, culture and sports, especially to present the facts, actions and achievements of Algeria. "
As such, APS "collects, processes, distributes both in Algeria and abroad news, commentaries, and written or photographic documentation forming the basis of objective information in accordance with the ethical and requirements of public service." APS teams of reporters and photographers
APS counts a staff of nearly 460 employees including 300 reporters, photographers and translators to cover the news in real time 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Got from the sources, the news are then the basis for magazines, interviews, analysis and insights on topics of interest locally, nationally and internationally. Each Regional Directorate has its own team of journalists and photographers in charge of national news coverage through the various provinces. . Departments of APS
APS produces about 600 news dispatches daily in three languages (Arabic, French and English) and provides the widest coverage of general national and international news. It uses satellite links via three satellites and also a website dedicated to information and photos. The photo department, re-launched in 1998, offers reports dealing with different areas, politics, culture, sports. Photos are posted throughout the site http://photo.aps.dz (reserved for subscribers). APS also offers specialized services for major events organized by Algeria (Arab League summit, ninth All Africa Games in Algiers, the second African Cultural Festival, etc ...) In addition to the services of text and photos for different users (media, institutions, economic operators), APS has a website in three languages Arabic, French and English. It is about to propose, in the near future, multimedia products initially based on services of texts, photos and graphics of the agency before being extended to the audio and video. APS services are available on INTERNET: • http://online.aps.dz • http://photo.aps.dz The text service can also be received via satellite in real time. To receive this service, the user must have a computer, a home satellite dish with a universal head 12 GHZ + demodulator with video output. The APS provides a software package over a data decoder for receiving information. Thus, a multidisciplinary technical team consisting of engineers and technicians, ensures a dynamic management of aspects related to maintenance and technology watch. The technical team, in constant contact with the agency clients to ensures the quality of receiving information services of the APS as well as through satellite public networks.
