The preparations for the conference are accelerating! It's the 3rd day already that a big group of volunteers from around the world are working hard. They have different tasks from cooking and cleaning to setting up the stage, all while getting to know each other and enjoying different games and activities.

Jan Øberg is a renowned peace researcher, mediator, and commentator, with decades of experience in promoting peace on a global scale. As the co-founder and director of TFF – The Transnational Foundation for Peace & Future Research (https://www.transnational.org/) in Lund, Sweden, Jan brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to our conference.

🌍🕊️ Exciting News! 🕊️🌍

Introducing our keynote speaker for this year's Peace Justice Conference focusing on "Teaching for Peace" - the incredible Dr. Lyla June Johnston, also known as Lyla June!

Dr. Lyla June is an Indigenous musician, scholar, and community organizer with a passion for Indigenous rights, youth empowerment, and traditional land stewardship practices. Her unique blend of academic background and cultural heritage informs her powerful messages on healing inter-generational trauma and promoting peace.

She will delve into empowering educators to guide their students through a comprehensive exploration of our violent colonial history. Her approach involves not only understanding but also reckoning with and transforming the impact of events such as the Roman expansion, inquisition, and various forms of warfare in Europe. She advocates for a three-part curriculum: first, to elucidate how Europe was violated; secondly, to examine how this violation extended to the Earth itself; and finally, to inspire a shift from being inheritors of conflict to becoming advocates for peace.

This year's conference was one full of dreams and hope for the future, with many great discussions amongst inspiring speeches and engaging workshops. We had a brilliant Saturday evening of community entertainment which celebrated the many talents that were present over the weekend.
We were reminded again why this kind of event is so necessary and the topics of Peace Justice, utopia and the future must be explored more often.
We are looking forward to next year to open the time capsules made over the weekend to see how we have moved forwards.
We want to share a special thank you to all of the workshop leaders, speakers, volunteers, kitchen crew and all of those who made this weekend possible.

The Peace Justice Camp has begun!
From last Sunday until Thursday, a series of workshops, activities, and practical tasks are going to be realized by the volunteers and the community on our campus ranging from preparing the stage for the conference to taking care of the accommodation, to having a nice walk in nature.

It is a large and ambitious project led by our students.

The preparations for Peace Justice Camp have started! These next seven days are gonna be packed with lots of working together to make this huge project a reality. We can't wait to get to meet all the wonderful volunteers that will join us on this task!

Food is the antithesis of war, war is about hatred, it's about destroying communities, it is about breaking things apart. Food is about bringing people together, it’s about community. This year we are putting a focus on the power of food to bring us together, we were inspired by last year when the conference made a conscious decision to make food part of the conference and each dish was inspired by a story of peace.
