Time for an update on the game development progress.
I have been conducting some additional play tests and had a great one with 6 other game designers, which revealed some ugly, but probably good, truths about my game.
It's too complex for the average board game player to grasp and enjoy, given that it should be easy enough for someone not knowing the game, to learn it and have a playthrough in about an hour to 1½ hours.
This was not possible with the current version of my game.
I also got some other great feedback, which I took to heart.
So now a month later, I have reworked all 144 cards, given the game mechanics an overhaul (simplifying the game), and removed the maps, which also makes the game more compact and eliminates the element of units moving around, which I was fond of, but had to realize it was adding a lot of complexity and also dragging the games out.
So TL;DR, I have just gotten the latest version of the game shipped to me, and I really like it. it's much easier to understand and dive into playing for the first time.
I have also updated my website, both in its design, but also all the cards, rules, etc have been updated to reflect the new version/mechanics of the game.
I hope you all check it out at http://www.epicdice.dk
And if you are interested in future updates, or just want to show me you are interested in the game, please consider subscribing to the newsletter at the bottom of the homepage. I promise I won't spam anyone.
