Out now! Daniel Day played at Sound by the Sounds first night at Søhesten in April and his mix is out now on Soundcloud and Mixcloud.

"Hailing from New York City, Daniel Day has been DJing since the late 90s, starting on radio hosting shows on jazz, classic gospel and various world music traditions. In Copenhagen he is a founding member of the art collective F**K (Forenede Uafhængige Københavnske Kunstnere) and can be heard DJing parties there as well as at clubs and festivals in Denmark and abroad. A typical set will leap genres between jazz, funk, soul, Afro, electro, disco, hip hop, and psychedelica spanning the globe."

The last Thursday of the month is coming up meaning Sound by the Sound is back at Søhesten - this time with Andy Martin, Amalie Bourno and womuff.

womuff brings summer on the decks with its shaking rhythms of percussions, trumpets, basslines and synths for funky dancers. She loves jazz and its African roots, dance of vitality, freedom and liberation, which she celebrates in her eclectic mix. womuff is 1/10th of the family, Copenhagen based collective experimenting at the cross section between art, tech and music.

Andy plays across the board from deep jazz to deep house via jazz-funk, afro-latin, boogie and even a little hip hop. He DJ'd in Italy for 17 years before moving to Denmark in 2012, where he ran the weekly Melting Pot radio show for 7.5 years. Before all of that, Andy was part of the original rare groove, acid house and acid jazz scenes in the UK.

Amalie Bourno, co-founder of Sound by the Sound, started dj'ing while the radio was still brewing back in 2019. She plays meditative yet uplifting tunes - usually a blend of genres in that sweet spot in between jazz, soul and electronic sounds. On this night you can expect soulful vocals and more uptempo grooves.

This is special Taarab mix by Malika Mahmoud was recorded for the fundraising DJ-livestream "Fra Nordhavn Til Afrikas Horn" on the 16th of june to raise funds and awareness of the devastating drought crisis happening now in the Horn of Africa.
