Generation Wealth
The obsession with wealth doesn't just affect men, and "Generation Wealth" explores the female perspective, through the stories of a female workaholic, a Midwest girl who travelled to Hollywood to become a porn star, a bus driver who went to Brazil for radical plastic surgery she hoped would fix both herself and her relationship with her daughter, and a young girl who learns that she can make up for her lack of money with her body and physical attractiveness. These women cope with the expectations of society in their own ways and reflect on what really makes life worth living. "Generation wealth" also tells Greenfields personal story, and explores her complicated relationship with her mother, and her son, wondering how her own workaholic tendencies in the pursuit of “more”, have damaged her family life.
Generation Wealth is the latest documentary by celebrated photographer and female director Lauren Greenfield, who made the award-winning The Queen of Versailles in 2012. The film is a chocking and unique portrait, that makes you question everything you think you know about the American dream. For more than 25 years, Greenfield has documented the lifestyles of some of the richest people in America, and how their influence has shaped our culture and ideals worldwide. The film is a fascinating study of surface worship and social psychology, where emptiness is lurking behind the sparkling and glamourous façade.
At an age when inequality is at historic highs and where the president of the united states is the epitome of vanity and new money, Greenfield's work is more relevant than ever. Filmen er et indblik i transgendermandekulturen (FTM), som følger fire transmænd, der som filmens instruktør er født og opvokset som kvinder, mens de forbereder sig til Trans FitCon, den eneste all-transgender bodybuilding-konkurrence i verden. T COOPER er desuden forfatteren til syv romaner, herunder "The Beaufort Diaries" og "Lipsh*tz Six" eller "Two Angry Blondes" samt medforfatter (med Allison Glock-Cooper) på den nye, firedelte romanserie med titlen "Changers".
