Son of Adungu is a one of a kind.
Recorded in Gulu Uganda in the middle of the pandemic, this album is the last time and played these songs together as they used to start their shows before they separated their paths.

This is a special kind of Acholi music, all played in major (Ionian ) scales, which makes it very happy and hearth warming.

We are very happy for releasing this album finally, aiming to spread the love of this music to the world!

With the special featuring of and Mwajuma, this album will speak by its own.

One of the reasons that brought this project to life is the tight similarity in music as in instrumentation between this Acholi music from northern Uganda and the Son Jarocho from Veracruz, Mexico.
Same as in Son Jarocho, like going from the "Leona" (jarocho bass) to the "Mosquito" (highest jarana) with many different sizes in between, the Acholi people uses as many different Adungu sizes between the "Adungu Madit" and the "Adungu Matidi"

"Lubanga ki ngom aye kwo" is the name of this band from Awach, northern Uganda , composed mainly of "lukeme", local name for the instrument known as well like mbira, likembe, kalimba or thumb piano.
The band are around 25 lukemes of different sizes and one bass standing on a big cooking pot upside down as a resonance box.
They have also percussion, singers and dancers

A full album of this band is coming next month as a special release
